Well, Miss Ranita, I am glad I was the source of entertainment at your busy trauma hospital emergency department. Didn't you guys have any lives to save last night?

A little bit of background. We live in Pennsylvania. Our weather is pretty much uneventful. I am not complaining about this, just stating a fact. We get a blizzard every 10 years or so, we have hurricane remnants buzz by. But all in all, weather here is pretty stable. We did have the worse flooding in more than 20 years in June this year. But I wasn't home for that, I was at the beach.

I am a weather geek! I watch the Weather Channel all the time. I never dreamed in my life that I would have this sort of a reaction to some unsettling weather.

I knew we were under a severe thunderstorm WATCH when I left work at 4:00. I wasn't too concerned about it. I went to Walmart and it was dry. When I left an hour later, it had begun raining. No big deal.

I got home, turned on the local news, and proceeded to put my lowcarb groceries away. I was hurrying along because I wanted to watch the news, and sit down and relax a bit.

Finally, I had my arms full of stuff that had to go into the lower level of our house. We have a huge picture window in our living room. I looked out the window and saw it was hailing. The biggest hail I've ever seen in my life. I just would see a chunk fly by now and then. The TV had that awful Emergency Bulletin noise on, so I looked at the screen. It said we were in a Tornado WARNING. It said to seek cover NOW. I could really hear the wind picking up -- big time. I looked outside again, and I literally could not see outside! I don't know how to describe what I saw, but it was like I was inside a cloud or something.

I dropped all the groceries I had in my hands and ran down to the basement. Once I was in the basement (which is the 4th level of our home) I could hear the hail pounding down there! When the noises subsided, I ventured back up the stairs and looked out our big picture window again.

It literally looked like it had snowed. I've never seen hail that big, or that much hail. I took all kinds of pictures, because I was home by myself, and I knew that nobody would ever believe me when I told them how bad it was.

Unfortunately, as I was standing outside in the pouring rain taking pictures, my camera got wet, DUH!! So, I had to leave it dry, because it wasn't working right. I hope I didn't ruin it.

I called Miss Ranita right away and left a message on her cell phone, that she found so amusing. When she called me back, she asked if I took the dog, cat, and bunny down in the basement with me. I said "heck, no it was every man for himself".

Truthfully, I have never ever been so scared in my life. I am still kind of hyper from the experience.

Well, there wasn't a true tornado at my house. The Emergency Management Dude for our county was in my town at the town's annual community fair, when this weather event hit. He was interviewed on TV, and his words were "I knew it was some kind of a tornadic event and I ran for cover". So, for those naysayers in my family who weren't even home when this was going on --- bleh! Even the professional emergency management dude was frightened. he said it is the worse hail he's ever seen in his life.

My oldest DD lives about a mile away and she got no hail, just a thunderstorm.

I'll post some pics. These are not my own personal pics, but pics that were taken by a neighbor in my development.

Hey !!! the good news, I was so hyper and scared last night, that I completely forgot about eating!!

Usually when I am worried about something, I want to eat.

I realized this morning that I didn't eat supper last night. Unbelievable!

The sad news, all of my beautiful plants and flowers are history. It looks like somebody took a big paper shredder to all of my flowers. Cry.

Re: Ask FloydGirl about the weather last night! Hilarious!

                    It was about quarter-sized!

Maybe to others who have more dramatic weather, that doesn't seem to bad. Or too much to go crazy about.

However, usually when it hails around here, it is so small it looks like sleet pellets.

Thanks, LIR. Yes, I was scared. I'm sure Miss Ranita will report in later on this.

Having had to make a quick dash just once during a storm many years ago, I can feel your pain!

Im glad it all turned out well although bad news on the flowers. That would have made me cry too. Good news is though in our neck of the woods it is mum season so now you have an excuse to go buy new flowers to replace them!
