  • What's the best holiday/vacation you've ever taken?

    Hi

Just wondered where people go on holiday/vacation, and where's the best place you've ever visited?

I think mine would have to be my holiday last year to Hawaii - it was fabulous!! We cruised around the islands so had a chance to sample them all, plus we met lots of nice new friends.

A close second would have to be our "road trip" around California and Nevada - we laughed from start to finish!! The best night was probably camping in Yosemitie with the bears!!

No contest for me really, there is only one holiday that I would pick for a thread like this!

I went to Australia, Easter 2005 for 2.5 weeks and it was just amazing. Visited Sydney for two days, and the pinnacle of the stay was the climb up the harbour bridge.

I have been to Spain twice, loved that also, but not a match for Australia.

Its getting cheaper and cheaper to fly out their now Jane. If you don't go during school holidays, you can pick up a flight for around £450 (I think). ALso when you get there the cost of living is a lot lower than the UK.

        (if that helps at all)

Cruises are my favorite. We've done 3 caribbean cruises and loved each one. IMO, there's no better bang for the buck!

                    Just everywhere
They took this "work and travel" visa and they have just enough money for tickets and to buy a small car there. So they'll be travelling around the continent, work here and there for food etc.
                    Just crazy, but SO COOL

Interlaken, Switzerland. "Interlaken" apparently means 'between lakes," and it's absolutely beautiful. As a child, my family went there...in the summer, every direction you look, there is a small waterfall. I have never seen anything like it! There was one waterfall, a small one, that poured into a stream and we walked up a hill to get as close as possible...of course we got sprayed

I also rememer travelling to the top of a mountain via train and cable cars...Jungfrau Joch (sp?). There are no words to describe what it's like to be on the top of a mountain...there was grass and mountain flowers, and it was windy! You could see all the other snow-capped mountains, and the clouds. I felt like Jack who had climbed up the beanstalk.

I also remember visiting a gorge, and an ice-cave somehwere. I dont' remember where the ice cave was but my Mom was terrified of being inside it (guess she got claustrophobic).

Wish I could visit Interlaken again!

Rich, I lived up in northern Australia for a number of years and it a incredible place with so much to see. Cairns is a bit of a tourist trap, but you have to go see the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation up north.

I worked south of Cairns around Mission Beach and in the rainforest near Tully. We used to go trekking for days in the jungle, it is an awesome place. Whitsunday Islands off Airlie Beach are a must see as well. I suggest drive the coast from Brisbane upwards or downwards from Cairns and you will see some of Australia's best. The Great Ocean Road just out of Melbourne is worthwhile seeing. The Grampians, the Bungle Bungles and the sheer desolateness of the Outback are some others. Gee sounds like I am employed by the Australian tourist board!

Jcapulet (hope I spelt this right), I live in Switzerland now, not far from Interlaken at the base of the Alps and yes, the mountains are just incredible.
