Job Titles!?

    Job Titles!?

    Anyone else noticed how over the top job titles are these days? You dont get normal titles anymore, everyone has a grand role. Everyone who looks after a customer now is not necessairly a customers agent, but an account manager because they manage someones account!

    I have just spoken to some one on the phone - her job title was LIFE LONG LEARNING FACILITATOR!! Which was another name for a trainer.

    I mean whats all that about? Just making her sound a little grander etc etc.

    So whats the most bizarre sounding job title you have ever come accross? and what does it translate to? ie what does that person actually do?

    My actual title is Associate Customer Relations Coordinator- customer service, lol.

      I knew a guy in the Navy who had the title of Facility Waste Engineer...

      ...he was the garbageman.

        I used to be a domestic engineer (when I stayed home with the kids - heee)

        We have a lot of "Director of Leasing" people here. How can they all be directors? They are, basically, real estate agents. Or sales people, if you will.

          Indeed LIR. I am a business development executive (officially) but I am hardly an exectutive. LOL< when I had my business cards printed they accidentally printed "business development director" and when I pointed out that there was an error they apologised for demoting me! So they obviously thought that executive was higher than director!

          The whole job title thing is ludicrous!

              lol Rich! My dh's title takes up 3 lines under his name. I have no idea what he does. It's like they took random words and strung them together. hee

                    Actually, I am more than happy with my pay! I bet that something you don't hear often? But its true I am happy with my salary and bonus structure. All is good being a business development executive lol.

                      It was his old title and I can't find it. Something to do with human resources and facilitating and integrating. This is his current title. He doesn't actually broker anything though.

                        That translates to: Underpaid Lowly Grunt that gets paged at 3 a.m. to reboot email servers and spend her workdays on boring conference calls.

                          When I was in the Army I was a Field Medical Noncommissioned Officer. That and my current title are pretty much it. Other than professional chop-buster.

                            My fancy pancy title is Administrative Secretary for Enforcement and Collections. I answer the phone and help customers. Sounds fun, huh?
