  • new to atkins, need advise

hello all! i am new to this although i have read the book front to back. i am 5'4 and started at about 131 pounds and am down to 126-127 after a wk and a half. my goal is to get to 118. is it because i dont have a lot to lose that it is going slower?? adn if i keep on the induction phase will the pounds just keep coming off quick? also,.........does caffiene actually make you gain or just slow the process?

You might get more answers if you posted in another forum, but I will try to help. So on your question about it being harder to lose the closer you get to goal I would say from what I am going through the answer is yes. But I also think it has a lot to do with how much yo yo dieting you have done in the past. In other words your metabolism catches on and slows things down.
You could also be holding water as some people do for various reasons such as time of month or eating to much sodium.

As far as the coffee it doesn't bother me but some people say it causes an insulin response..Don't know.

As far as the induction question I pretty much stay there all the time but I like things simple and I don't see the atkins book as a bible I see it as a guide.
    Someone else should answer that..

Hello and welcome! Congrats on your loss so far! YOu're doing great!

Yes... the less you have to lose the slower the weight comes off. Those last few pounds can be pesky. Would also say that a slowdown is normal for many after a week or two of induction. Be patient... if you follow the WOE properly, the weight will come off.

Caffeine is best avoided as it can stall people. You're ok with decaf, but remember to count the carbs (of caffenated and decaffenated)

        Happy losing!
