  • Blockbuster versus Netflix

Do you have a preference? I have both accounts now (I know, I know), but I wonder if you prefer one over the other, and why.

I really like Netflix because of the price and the quantity you can rent at a time (I watch netflix while walking on the treadmill), but I like Blockbuster because we get free local rentals, too, and they don't seem to hold up rentals.

Never used netflix but people that do like the convenience. Blockbusters seem to be going out of business, how are they dealing with the netflix users? Did their "No late fee's" work?

      Re: Blockbuster versus Netflix

I use Netflix and love it. It's been about six months now. I signed up for 2 dvd's at one time. This works for me because I ONLY watch them as I walk on my treadmill with my portable dvd player. So I view about 30 minutes at a time in the mornings. So one is in the mail while I'm watching the other. Rarely am I without a movie. Blockbuster is right across the street from my work, but I haven't rented from there in...about six months.

JakcsUncle. Blocbuster has come out with the same program as Netflix, and their added bonus is being able to get a free in-store rental each week. And if you return the mailed movies to them, you get even another free movie on top of that! I'm not sure if it's a limited time thing, so I was hoping someone might have more experience with them than I've had. I've used Netflix for a long time now. I like them, but they tend to slow the movies down from time to time, and their selection's not as good as Blockbuster's is.

cherberr! Thank you for your input! I also like watching while I walk on my treadmill! It's way better than tv!

          Re: Blockbuster versus Netflix

I use Netflix personally and LOVE them! Rarely is anything in my queue not available, unless it hasn't been released yet. As for Blockbuster, I have no need to visit the one three blocks from my house -- they never have what I want to see anyway! With almost 200 channels of TV (most of which I never watch!), there is little temptation to hit the store.

Blockbuster's doing the same thing as Netflix now, with the mailed movies.

They do have a few things Netflix doesn't, but I agree, they couldn't compete as a brick and mortar store, to be sure!
