Your right Jane. I am referring to the American cocker spaniels. Alot of the problems with these is that they were so popular for so long that they started to become the victims of irresponsible breeding. You wouldn't believe the health problems we see in them either. Their eyes, ears and skin almost always give them problems. And they can be nasty. Forgive me for not making the distinction.

Here's what I think. You're gonna go to the shelter, you're gonna find a dog that clicks with you, and that's the one you'll get. We have always gotten shelter dogs, and we just "knew" when we found them. I would advise you to get something older, (I mean not a puppy) especially if its going to be alone for a good chunk of the day while you are working?
