How much would I be looking to spend on a nights b and b in a hotel.

My and my gf are looking at holidays at the end of January 2007, Florida is a possibility. On average, how much would a nights b and b cost me in a fairly decent hotel? We are looking at staying for about 7 nights.

Where are you staying Rich? Take a look at www.orbitz.com. That's where I find most of my hotels. It'll at least give you a good idea. I'm guessing like $129/night or so.

Keep in mind January is the height of tourist season, so places will be very expensive. What are you looking to do? Disney, beach?

I was in florida the first week of Feb this year, we paid $140 in Tampa, $160 in Naples Beach, $179 in Key West and $195 in Miami South Beach - plus 13% tax on all of them! (how lucky are you I kept all my reservation emails!!! lol) South Beach was by far my fav!!

Far too expensive at the moment, lets hope we can find a late deal. I was looking at spending $500 (£250) each max for the week and to include flights. Something that we will be able to get if we go to Egypt or Morocco

try www.icelolly.com they have some rather good deals in Jan - £219 to florida room only or Jamaica from £259!! that includes flights too!! there's probably other add on amounts like fuel supp, but thats a really good starting price, and not too far from your budget!

I might book and come with you at those prices!!! lol

The tourist season in Florida starts about mid-March through August (spring break for students through end of summer break). The price of a hotel on the beach in say, St. Augustine will run you about $79-$99 weeknight and $99-$129 weekend, but we are talking about Holiday Inn style hotels here (IMO, they are not that bad). We go to Florida Every march, and stay in a wonderful beachside condo hotel in Madeira Beach (near tampa, on the gulf side) for approx $130 usd per night, that's in the school break season so it would be the high price. The room includes a full fridge, microwave and stove, and couch table etc which I always prefer, since we save a fortune buying groceries and not eating out 2-3 x a day

I've been to florida probably 15 times since I was a teen, the gulf side is by far my favourite.... we have gone to the madeira/treasure island area about 6 times now...i highly recommend it.

Rich, give a couple of tour operators a call and get prices. Airtours always do cheapies online, but you have to wait until a couple of days before you're flying to go.

Travel city Direct will work for you (I used to work for them lol) Their January prices are as low as they get the whole year. Just call them for a price, tell them where you want to stay and get them to call you back. They get discounts on hotels, especially down by the coast because of the number they sell. Plus, if you get everything through them, they'll discount the flights for you.

I assume you're going to hire a car out there, and if you do, the price will include insurance. But if you're not going to hire a car, tell them you ARE taking the car but you have your own car insurance to cover you out there, or they'll add another 140 quid each onto the holiday for you! Sneaky gits, eh? lol

Thursdays from Gatwick are going to be the cheapest by far, but I'll bet you'll get it well within your budget. Fly into Sanford because it's a lot cheaper too, even if you add on transfers it's cheaper than flying into Orlando international or any beach side airport.
