  • Christmas Cards....to keep or not to keep?

So, what do you do with your wonderful collection of Christmas cards, letters, and pictures loving family and friends send to you?

We usually keep the pictures and file the cards and letters in the approriate receptical not long after Christmas because we're usually in a hurry to clean up the house and get ready for the New Year.

But I'm curious if there's any other pack rats out there that have kept Christmas cards from years past

My mom used to save Christmas cards and make tablecloths out of them...somehow the cards were arranged and laminated or put between two sheets of heavy vinyl or something...I'm not sure of the exact process...they were really cool looking...I think it was an 80s thing. She doesn't do it anymore (she already had 2 tablecloths made of these cards, I mean, come on, how many tablecloths does a person need?)

I throw mine away--I display them for the season, and toss them when I put decorations away. I don't know what else to do with them, besides make an 80s tablecloth.

Aaah....that's a cute display there, La La...

That's pretty creative of your mom, Juli. I never would have thought to make them into a table cloth.

I toss any preprinted ones that are not personal ... but keep every one that has a note in it so I can read them again like LA LA

I adore Christmas letters some are just hysterical!!! and family or pet photos are great too...

I just sat and read some from the lady who had a huge part in raising me ..sadly she passed this summer ...but she used to send me the best notes ...so I took them all out ..had my sob festival missing her beyond reason and then felt very close to her for a few moments ...I was so lucky to have her in my life for 47 years!!!

I recylce all of my old cards.

I hardly send any out to be honest. I will post cards to people who I dont see or see often. But I cant see the point of giving them to people I see daily.

            Is anyone else like that?

I do give them to my coworkers and people I see every day because we are so busy all the time I feel like Christmas is a nice time to stop and write a note to tell them how much I appreciate all the hard work that goes on around me!!!

I know I am so grateful when someone I see all the time says something really nice in a card ..so I figure if it makes me feel good why not pass it forward!

Heidi, I think I have been tainted somewhat, I spent 10 years working for the worlds largest greeting card company, maybe my attitude to cards comes down to that?
