  • Christmas gifts you always wanted but never got!!

    Hi All

We were all laughing over Christmas at what presents we always asked Father Christmas for as a child but never got!!

Mine was Mr Frosty - It was a silly device that made iced drinks and you put flavours over them, I asked year after year for a Mr Frosty, but mum would never buy me one as she knew full well I'd make far too much mess with it!!! hehe!!!

Does anyone else have any funny stories like this???

I wanted a Mr Frosty too!!! I asked for it like 3 years in a row but never got it.

Do you remember the advert with the girl making beans on toast for her Dad using this mini kitchen on wheels type thing? I wanted that kitchen on wheels set but never got it! Also the red car with the yellow roof from Early Learning that you sit in and pedal around in....well I wanted that too but I got an AA car instead!!!

I wanted this train that you could ride on--it was sort of like those little cars that have car batteries in them that you can drive and steer--and it came with tracks that you could lay down. You could also buy additional sets of tracks so you could travel in bigger circles or whatever.

I asked my parents for one of these starting at about age 5. I said to her "Mommy, if I get this, I'll never have to WALK again!"

Oh the look of horror! I can pretty much guess WHY I never got that train in the 4 years I asked for it...

I always wanted a Mr Frosty too! But my parents wouldn't let me have one

I also wanted a train set, but was told they were only for boys.

I wanted a Barbie Dream House and made sure I placed the articles about it all over the house. Instead, I got a wooden doll house for 5 inch dolls. Yep, I felt cheated. LOL.

Always wanted the Barbie wardrobe circa 1970. Not really sure now what it was but I know I wanted it and never got it.

I *did* get the Frosty freeze thing - i think we made a couple snowcones the first week, the novelty wore off and into the back of the cupboard it went, never to be seen again!

There are three things I remember asking for repeatedly - When I was quite young I wanted one of those easy bake ovens to make cupcake sized little cakes, (never got) and a tonka truck (was given a race car set on tracks instead.) When I got a little older it was always a skateboard which was "too dangerous".

My gift that I always wanted was one of those little sewing machines. Never got it, hah, bet mom is wishing she got me one now since I never learned to sew and she has to do all my mending for me and my family.

Since having my children they have recieved the frosty snowman machine and the easy bake oven, and as someone mentioned somewhere above they get used once or twice, the novelty wears out and they are dust collectors up in the closet.

Here2 did your mom know it was just a lightbulb doing the cooking? basically it was just an overn shaped lamp LOL. I loved my easy bake oven and used it all the time! My cousin and I used to make what we called 'pretzels' basically water and flour and salt to make a dough, then we braided them and 'cooked' them in the eb oven. guess that was the start of my carb addiction! how gross is that.

I had every barbie and every barbie dream home, camper, outfit.

Oh did i mention i was an only child? LOL. Never realized till i was an adult how really spoiled i was.

Anyway..The two things i never got that I really wanted where a hot wheels race track. And a LightBright.

Now that I'm an adult and own a vaccuum cleaner I totally understand why I never got the lightbright .

Re: Christmas gifts you always wanted but never got!!

One year I begged dad for a potters wheel. It was just a battery operated plastic thing. I was going to make all sorts of beautiful pottery. Well, when I opened the packages, several pieces were missing. It was obvious that it was an item that was returned and restocked. So dad told me he'd exchange it. When he went back to the store they didn't have any in stock. I never did get my potters wheel

I always wanted a lite-brite!!! Never got it. Then I asked for a Jr. Chemistry set. Nada. Ditto with a telescope. That potters wheel would have been cool to have!!

I got lite brite, potters wheel and EBO, but for years and years asked for walkie-talkies and a tape recorder at the top of my list. Guess Santa (or Mom& Dad) thought I might get into mischief or something. LOL

Sadie - ewwwww, that's gross. Pleeeease say you DIDN'T eat those!
