  • In Honor of Dr Martin Luther King Jr

With all the blood shed going on in the world ..Dr Martin Luther King Jr was our shining beacon of light when it comes to fighting for a cause with peace and nonviolence

On my way home from work last night I was listening to a rebroadcast of this interview with Clarence Jones.....I am so proud that my parents were active followers and believers in Dr King in a time when this was not popular ...my folks taught me what was right and good...I was a child ..but this wonderful insightful man had a huge impact on me, my beliefs and how much pride I have in being an American....Dr King is an American hero ..he is the right way in a very overwhelmingly violent world ...things can change with peaceful nonviolent means....I am grateful to have this hero in my lifetime ...

God blessed us with you Dr King ....thank you for what you gave this country

please listen ...and if you have the time ... attend a celebration in your area...learn about this man ...he is a real hero who's words were a blessing to this country

    peace love and happiness,

*sigh* God only knows how much peace and non-violence we need from all sides!!! Notice the word all is underlined -- meaning every creed, religion, nation, peoples, etc etc.

It's just getting too much --

Thank you Heidi for posting this!

Dr. King was a beautiful HUMANitarian. It's a shame that so many forget this in light of other current "activists" taking his words and twisting them to suite their plight. He was for ALL people, not just one race as some would have others think.

Thank you for posting this Heidi. <3 you

Re: In Honor of Dr Martin Luther King Jr

Heidi it's really just getting to be too much....I'm just not seeing any side at this moment who really believes in true peace. Just all this machoism and egoism with power and control and one side believes the other is out to destroy them. It's just getting too much. I'm just seeing a spiral down of morality and violence is just spinning out of control. Too much hypocrisy, parties say they want peace and then do the complete opposite of working towards that goal. I'm really concerned about the future of humanity -- but I know it's in God's hands. I just wish all human beings from all countries would respect each other. It's not just one side not respecting or threatening the other, it's all of them threatening each other. Sorry to go on a rant and rave but I'm trying to say this as delicately as possible without mentioning any particular event, country, etc etc.

I don't believe I am being negative either -- I am really a peaceful person but just seeing all this hypocrisy and events going on really makes me sad and mad at the same time.

I didn't know it was MLK day yesterday (Monday) until I put two and two together from Heidi's post and from another post on a journal about "getting the day off for MLK day".

Peoples words must be projected high for the world to see and remember the words of peace. Good can always overcome bad. That's the only way to get out of a bad situation is through peace. Not through more weapons *sigh*, more this or that...but just being morally strong and leading by words. Empowering the masses of people with the basic things in life.

When people don't have the basic things in life (electricity, food, clean water, security) then they react in angrily and irrate ways. This is human nature.

That Bangladeshi banker is really a human genius for starting the bank which did micro-banking -- to help those poor Bangladeshis start up a small (micro) business so he started to lend them very small amounts of money with NO interest. This was his contribution to the world. He won a Nobel Peace Prize because of it (his name is Mohammed Yunus). He wasn't after any power or money hunger, he just simply wanted to help the masses of people feel better about themselves and get ahead somehow.

              This is my 5:50 a.m morning rambling.....It's a beautiful day.....Take care

Yes Heidi you are lucky to have heard that man's words!!

Here is an awesome link to MLK's speech (one of them)....

sheds such a comparison to today's events in the world..

too bad our world leaders don't wake up and realise what they are doing.

Re: In Honor of Dr Martin Luther King Jr

I'm just a bit sad tonight because i found out one of my friends from high school just passed away back in Canada. We lost touch about 8 or 9 years ago.

It's really bad tho these days how biased the media is. Just drives me crazy. I wish there was truth spoken out instead of lies and more lies and crap.

Anyways, how did you end up spending MLK day? I'm happy that you are also into peace loving as well! Peace should rule the world!

Hey have you heard of "Democracy Now!"?? It's an awesome indy type of media website and they have produced sooo many excellent interview videos and videos in general. Real eye opener ones. I try not to read the mainstream media much, as they just lie and lie and don't tell the truth about what is really going on. Makes me sick actually reading it sometimes. It's like they just want to divide peopel more and more and have this group against that group, etc.

I go to the Indy websites and listen to indy news, I find them much more objective.

Anyways, just my two cents worth!! hehe

oh well I will let this rest ...
