Did american idol get too "mean"?

I think it's funny but I guess alot of people don't feel that way.

Got burned out on idol a few years back. I usually just watch the last few episodes to see who the winner is going to be. I personally can't stand Simon.

I don't think American Idol is mean. I mean seriously, if you can't sing well, and you are singing horribly in front of judges, who are there to judge your singing, then yes, the judges need to tell you the truth.

Some of those people on that show are absolutely horrible. I guess that the FOX producers do it on purpose to get the ratings.

Randy has started to get a bit meaner, but then again so would you if you had to listen to 10,000 auditions to find 17 people who can at least carry a tune. I sing far better than 3/4 of the fools who step onto that audition platform but know better than to think I'd be in the top 2-3% necessary to have a shot.

Simon is honest...end of story. Just wish he'd stop saying "I don't mean to be rude..." when obviously it's time for *somebody* to be rude and smack some of these silly gits with a big handful of reality.

Just because your Mom says you sing beautifully don't waste a spot in line...get some independent verification.

Another thing is that just becuse a certain audition is shown at the beginning of the show, doesn't necessarily mean it was one of the first auditions for the day. EDITING is a very powerful tool when it comes to American Idol.

I love american idol - we had 4 hours of it shown here in the UK on Sunday.

I think Simon is worse here in the UK to our contestants!!! A lot ruder!!!

I also love american idol, I loved when jewel was judging last tuesday and she was like "you guys are mean." Then like half an hour later she was like,"Oh my god that was horrible." I guess when people obviously can't sing than it would make me angry as a judge. Why are you wasting my time, would be my thoughts on it. LOL

Yes he was way too mean, he overstepped the line.
That lil guy obviously had something medically wrong with him and Simon mocked him on his appearance.

I'd say 95% of the people in the auditions that sing horribly know they sing horribly, they're just looking for their 15 minutes. Just trying to be the next William Hung.

I don't watch it, but I'll put in 2 cents says whichever contestant has the most money will win in the end...
