OK, no reason to be alarmed now.

I'm looking for a website where I can enter a city name or zip code and be provided with the County that the city or town lies within?

I usually use http://www.naco.org/counties/queries/city_srch.cfm but the website is down.

Can anyone help me?

I don't think so. It doesn't seem to offer county names.

Google earth does it, you need to pick the counties layer in the options. It's kind of complicated though..so not sure if it's worth it.

you also have to install google earth, and once you do you will become addicted to it and will get no work done. so maybe it's not a good idea.
