  • Interesting Atkins-esque book

    Hey everyone,

I wasn't sure if this was Atkinsey enough to go in the main forums, but I've been meaning to share for a while about the book that got me into trying Atkins.

I was having a sad fat day and moping around a bookshop and bought 'The Hungry Years' by William Leith. It's a quite funny, but also a bit disturbing and raw account of his addiction to food and other things and how he broke the cycle with Atkins.

He decided to do the diet after meeting Dr Atkins for an interview. It's quite interesting on the idea of fat acceptance and on the dominance of the low fat diet as acceptable.

I'm re-reading it at the moment to remind myself why I'm doing this and thought some of you might find it interesting. *warning* though, he can be a bit harsh and quite gross. Men might find it particularly interesting.

This is not a hijack, but since this thread reminded me, I'll put in 2 cents - I saw "Atkins for Life" at the dollar store last week. I didn't get it though; it was as I was checking out that I saw it. I must go back....

          Hi Boonie,

I have Atkins for Life - it was going cheap in a charity shop so I thought I'd get it in anticipation of reaching goal (and any excuse to buy more books, frankly) It looks really good - loads of recipes.
