LOL it was about 7 feet long... But, there is a reason I stopped doing that I've got pics of my cabinets after that trip... about 20 bags of tostitos, pies, cakes, juice boxes, or in short carbs, sugar, and fat. Hubby and I put on so much weight because of that kind of shopping... I was also able to frequently get meat, lunch meat, and cheese... but the other stuff was the bulk of the free stuff I got.

(On the bright side I don't think I'll ever have to buy razors, shaving cream, soap, toothbrushes, hand soap, or body wash ever again)

Well, you're still my hero with a receipt like that. That's one bummer about this WOE, there are no double coupons for ribye steaks!

oh, where I learned how to do all the coupon shopping, if anyone is interested is www.grocerygame.com it is a service that tells you about sales in your area, and which coupons to use, there is a membership fee of like $10 per month, but totally worth it. If you are into coupons, and have a bunch that you can't use, for the junky kind of food, I knew ladies who would buy it anyway and take it to homeless shelters and the like.

When hurricane Katrina hit, I was able to donate a ton of shampoo, soap, and razors. So it wasn't a total loss

I'm gonna look at that. Thanks

I'm just wondering if it will work for me since I'm not near a major metropolitan area.

OMG Fancy that is awesome! I'm famous for carrying coupons around in my purse then realizing their expired when I go to use them LOL.

We also have store rewards programs here too that can be very good. I think if they are free and it's a store you shop at they are worth joining. I bank through one of the grocery stores here, and I get points for paying my bills on line..every 20,000 points you get $10 off of your groceries. Takes a while to build up the points..but doesn't cost me anything so it's worth it. If you buy your gas there as well you get .03 cents per litre back in cash off of your groceries too. it can add up! I love rewards programs!

You know what I hate though...seriously...this is a pet peeve of mine....the "club" membership you have to have at all the grocery stores in order to get the discount. Now I have to carry all these stoooooopid cards around in my wallet or on my key chain in order to get the sale price. It just pisses me off. Sorry, but it does. I like to shop at Walmart or at Publix just because they are the only stores that don't make me carry the stupid card.

Okay, that was MY rant for the day....

I agree. That's irritating about the cards. But I'm guilty, I have 3 on my keychain. Albertsons, CVS, and Pet Supermarket.

Actually yeah you are so right about that...I can't fit all my cards in my wallet or its too thick and wont close..i had to buy a separate card holder, which if i switch purses is always in the wrong purse when i'm at the store. We don't have keychain ones here..they're all the size of a credit card .

I wouldn't dream of not using those store membership cards! Of course, it irritates me that the price difference of shopping without one seems to be getting larger, which serves as a means of coercing more to join, but then they have a record in a computer of everything you buy with the card.

However, I've found that the majority of the time I don't need the cards at all! Just tell them yes when they ask you if you have one, and say you didn't carry it today. The clerk will either swipe a "courtesy" card for you (no computer records for you, but no bonus points/gas either) and you get the price discounts, or you can enter your (or your neighbor/relative who has a membership) phone number instead of swiping a card!

Miss Phode, did you mean to post that in this thread? Do tell more, please!

Oh, and by the way, I forgot to mention on the store card subject - do take advantage at every opportunity when there's a promotion set up with on-the-spot free gifts or other instant perks (such as gift cards) for applying. You can use fictitious information! (Shhhhh! You didn't hear it from me!!)
