I enjoy the flamingo because they have a nice pool and they're a little more middle range priced. Right in the middle of the strip too.

I LOVE Las Vegas! Hubby and I went twice last year (our first time there) and have a week booked starting May 20th of this year! We lucked out and got offers for free rooms at New York/New York and Treasure Island so we dont have to pay for rooms all week! We had an offer for the Mirage (big shocker) but they were booked for the offers by the time I called last week. Vegas is so big that we haent seen everything even though we have been there twice. In Nov we are going to take our second trip of the year and treating our sons and their wives to a vacation there. We are saving our pennies already! If I dont get good rates on the stip we might try Orleans or Sams Town. There are shuttles to the strip and the last time I looked you could get a room at Sams Town for $40-$50 a night.

I might add....just in case you think I have a gambling problem, Jim loves Las Vegas, the sights, the shows, etc (and gambling too but we arent big gamblers). I am making sure he gets to have all the fun possible while he is well enough. You see, he has stage 3B Lung Cancer. Diagnosed 2 years ago. Right now he is feeling better than he has in years! But we can never know when the dormant cancer will start growing again. Doc said he wouldnt make it think long but he has.

This trip is one of the reasons I started Adkins 2 weeks ago. I am (was...lost 8 so far) 20 lbs heavier than I was in may of last year and I would love to be less by then and ESPECIALLY by November when we have our mini-reunion there! Not to mention, May 21 is our second aniversary...of our second marriage. Yup, divorced after 20 years then remarried 5 later!

I have interruped enough! You all have a great day Adkinsing!! I know I am! More energy than I have had in a longggg time!!

Have a great time Ester!! my parents are the same as you - dad has inoperable cancer - and they're making the most of every minute they have - they are currently on a caribbean cruise!

Jane....sorry to hear about your dad but pleased to hear they are on that cruise!! Thts wonderful! I honestly believe that having fun like that and having something exciting to look forward to makes all the difference in the world with their health. Jim's is inopperable too. he went through a year of chemo and several months of radiation. It is dormant right now...but there has been no change in a year! Jim says its GONE...the doc says no...but Jim says he will believe what he wants to believe!

Here's hoping your dad brings back a bunch of pics and loads of fun and exciting things to tell you about the trip.

I've only ever stayed in the MGN - which was really really nice!!!

Tracie - I think we should go and visit all the hotels for everyone this summer and do a report on our findings!!! hehe!!!

Just saw this thread. Cool idea. Have you got a time frame in 2008 for going yet? Is it just adults or will others bring their kids? We're going in June (I hope) to go visit my dad (he lives out there). Most times we've gone in the past we stayed at the Mirage (lovely place), very central on the strip. This time we might trade in a week of my MIL's time share and try an apartment style place.

The nicest thing is that parking in the garage at any of the big casinos is free, so you can travel up and down the strip in your rental car and get to see it all.

I'd recommend any of the Cirque de Soleil shows, they're all wonderful! I've seen "O" (all about water) at the Bellagio and Mystere at Treasure Island. I think this trip (in June) we'll try to see Love or KA (probably Love) as we can't take the kids to Zumanity (too adult-themed).

Lady Hawke knows when in 2008 I think it was scheduled when she was going to be in AZ already.
