  • dehydration question

I'm drinking tons of water (M-F) but always have this thirsty feeling.
my S.O. thinks I need electorlytes, but gatorade has like 35 carbs!!!!!
Maybe it's just cotton mouth but I just can't quench my thirst. Any suggestions?

    Re: dehydration question

How much water have you been drinking? As a general rule, you should drink 64oz. plus 8oz. for every 25 pounds you want to lose. I drink this much, and more on most days, usually a gallon or more. Some days I *do* feel really thirsty, and those are times where there's a good chance I'm dehydrated, usually from a really tough workout. It's important to keep those fluids coming!

My guess is that if you are taking your supplements and eating healthy, nutritious foods, you should be fine by drinking more water. Gatorade is unnecessary. The more you drink water, the more you crave it!

        Re: dehydration question

Some would say they are mandatory, some would say they are incredibly beneficial and helpful. At the very least, you should be taking a multivitamin with no iron, like a 50+ multi or centrum silver.

At first, I wasn't too big on supplements, but I've noticed a HUGE improvement in my energy, skin, and overall wellbeing after I started taking them regularly. Check out the ADBB Vitamin Club Conversation Thread...Biogeek is the hostess, and she can answer any questions you have--she's a pro!

This is what I take each day:
        50+ multivitamin
        flax oil (2x)
        B-complex
        vitamin C
        vitamin E
        biotin
glucosamine/chondroitin (just added this, for joint lubrication and health)

          Re: dehydration question

Have you had your blood sugar tested? Excessive thirst is a sign of diabetes, and since you have so much weight to lose, it's possible that your blood sugar is high (not necessarily at diabetic levels).

            Re: dehydration question

I've been tested my whole life for diabetes....no sign of anything.
I do go back to the doctor in two weeks, I'll ask him what he thinks.
I don't have sugar or starch so I wouldn't think I'd start being diabetic now, do you?
            hm
