  • I've never had a serious girlfriend...

it was one of the driving forces behind my weightloss, to finally be appealing to women and to finally find one that was right to me. I am 80 pounds lighter, look better than ever..yet my romantic life is exactly the same. I know I'm still young, only 18 and in my first year of college...but it's really discouraging.

    Starting Weight: 307-310
    Current Weight: 220
Short Term Goal Weight: 225 by May 1st (met)
Long Term Goal: 215 pounds by June 12th (almost there!)

Oh Ovahk...love/romance is just one of those elusive things, if it were an exact science there'd be an infomercial for it already (I'm in no way trying to diminish your feelings)...but it's something that happens on it's own when you least expect it.

I'm sorry that it has you down...the best advice I can possibly give is...go out, enjoy life...do all the things you couldn't do before your terrific weightloss and let the ladies flock to you. They'll come around

first congratulations on your 80 pounds loss - that is awesome!

I agree with CJB - go out and enjoy life, do the things your weight kept you from doing - and smile! Just be the wonderful guy you are - the ladies will notice

Since this is your first year in college, get involved in clubs and organizations on campus. Look into volunteer opportunities as well. You never know where you are going to meet people. Not only for love, but you may find a professional mentor, a new best bud, club members who will later on in life give you leads on professional job opportunities and the like. Not only may you meet your future wife, but your future best man, future boss, someone who may be in the right place at the right time who will save your life.

Go out and go forth into college life and enjoy EVERY minute of it. It is all about what YOU make of it. Be open and friendly. Look people in the eye, smile and say hello. Be friendly, be outgoing, be confident. That is all attractive, no matter what you weigh.

Ovahk, you're starting the most exciting time of your life, enjoy every minute of it! You'll find friends, love, success, and fun where you least expect it.

ValidRouge gave great advice--get involved, join clubs and organizations. Not only will you be doing something you'll love, you'll be meeting others with the same interests as you, and you never know when that "networking" will come in handy.

And just remember, be yourself. Do not change who you are inside because you think it will attract/please others. College will be such a great experience to interact with tons of different kinds of people, all unique for different reasons. Be yourself, and you will find others with whom you really "click".

Congrats on losing 80 pounds so far--that's awesome!!!

And speaking of college clubs...they all don't have to be socially orientated. I met some of my closest friends in college at my work-study job.
