What you say is so true. It really does capture the north jersey attitude. Yeah, I know Italian/Americans who are "rumoured" to have mob connections too.

janice should really be whacked, imo. she is the least likeable character on the show. don't get me wrong, the acting is great, and that is the point - to love to hate her. AJ is a close second for being a non-lovable charcter.

as fas as best acting, i think edie falco takes it. she's fantastic.

Re: Anyone Else a Soprano's Junkie?

Don't kid yourself on mob ties. Their prominent roll has decreased significantly in all sectors of what they once had. People that talk about their connections do just that. Talk. Which means they know a guy that knows a guy that knows someone that picks up garbage of a guy rumored to be in it.

Nobody that is truly in it, talks about being in it. You just don't do it.

hahahaaha! that's a good one. apparently, you don't live in the NJ/NY area.

my husband is a state prosecutor in the NJ division of organized crime and racketeering. sadly, the mob is alive and well. true, it is not what it once was, but drugs, prostitution, and running numbers are all serious organized crimes.

Aww, but the best part you're missing.

The stench from the industrial plants right there. I find it funny when people are visiting and coming into Newark, I take them on turnpike and they always wonder why NJ is called the garden state when all they really see for their time is that stretch of road thinking all of NJ is like that.

                              scooter-

are you from NJ originally? i was born in trenton and we lived there until i was about 8 or so. moved to south jersey and where i grew up, so to speak, in the pinebarrens area of medford. now i live in hunterdon county, and honestly, most people have no idea how beautiful it is out in the northwestern counties of NJ. totally so far removed from the congestion of the eastern part of the state. even some of DH's relatives who visit us from passiac and bergen counties think we live in the sticks! amen to that!
