    Re: Now Playing

I love the Hip too! Never seen them live though, their concerts usually sell out fast...are they very big in the us? I'm thinking maybe because detroit is a border city that might be why you had heard of them? everytime they come out with a new song here, it's pretty much guaranteed to be a #1 hit.

      Re: Now Playing

It was because we were in Detroit. One of the main radio stations I listened to in Detroit was a Canadian Station in Windsor. No one I've met in Florida has any idea who they are. I've never heard them on the radio since I've moved away

So I have to ask, do you know Sloan? I've also seen them in concert a ton of times.

I liked Bob Seger until I waited on him and Alto Reed at a bar in Detroit. That kind ruined it for me. I was NOT impressed.

I saw Aretha Franklin Saturday night at the Grand Casino. Bless her heart she was so big she could barely move. She was sweating something fierce. I felt so sorry for her. The plus side is she can still sing with the best of them. Maybe she will find ADBB someday.

Do tell, if he was ugly to you then I am ditching my collection. Was he a butt?

That's funny. My husband and I have both met her. She's a super nice lady. I used to work for one of her good friends. When my boss' father passed away, Miss Franklin pulled up in front of our shop in her limo, and brought in the prettiest floral arrangement I've ever seen. Unfortunately, she doesn't always pay her bills. LOL My husband did work for her, and she never paid his company for the work. The really funny thing is that her son works at a used CD store in Royal Oak Michigan.

Bob was OK. Alto was a jerk. The ladies they were with were even ruder. Don't ditch your collection on my account. Maybe they were just having a bad day. And wanted to give me a bad day too.

I have seen Bob in concert twice in Detroit and three times in Memphis. My Grandparents lived in Detroit in the 70's and 80's. It was going to kill my soul if he had been a butt to you. I love your Aretha story. After her concert she came out and walked around the casino and talked to people. I agree with the super nice lady part.

My cousins husband is a tour bus driver and drove her once when she was touring here. apparently she insists on being called Miss Franklin he said. She also is a fanatic for fried chicken (hence the weight issue i suppose ), she had him drive her to a chicken place 50 miles outside of toronto because she heard how good the chicken was. She would not go in, had someone else go in and aget it to go, she ate it on the bus as they drove 50 miles back. Though he did also say she's very very nice.

jen, i would say it has nothing to do with being old. i just turned 36. i tend to seek out more obscure music that's not necessarily played on radio (terrestrial or satellite), but is, nevertheless, quite good.

patty!!! some of my all-time faves right there! woo-hoo! like no one i know outside my little circle of half-crazed drunken irish-american friends listens to (let alone likes) shane mcgowan! ah, many a pogues show i have attended. and the chieftans, wolftones, and U2 (before bono became too much of a bore). the JaMC sound horrible live, admittedly. never had the opp to see van morrison live - i hear he's a pill.
