    Re: Pet Peeves

    Man,

    I have loads:
    - Uneccessary plastic bag use - like you can carry and sandwich 5 metres to you car without a bag!
    - People who don't wipe off gym equipment
    - People who cycle incorrectly (like coast down a hill and then peddle heavily back up thus delaying me in my massive rush to work)
    - Use of the word 'myself' instead of 'me'

    I imagine I'll be back...

I was thinking about that today. Wondering why it seems fairly common when on a standard keyboard you'd use a different finger for the D and the T, and when it's spelled correctly right at the top of the page. Was also wondering if it could possibly be a language thing like maybe in Sweden the name is spelled with a D or something.

Nope, I think these people really think it is Adkins. I have seen posts where they will type it like that several times. The first thing that comes to mind is, how in heck did they find this site if they don't know how to spell Atkins. And, it is an indicator to me that they have not read the book (another pet peeve of mine).

Also, while I don't like cars that go too slow as some have mentioned, I hate it even more when someone rides my a$$ when I am going at least the speed limit or 5 miles over. Let's see, while I am on the subject of cars, please use your blinker (turn indicator)! I can't stand waiting forever for a car to go by so I can pull out, and they turn at the last minute, meaning I have waited there for nothing.

Got another one. This may offend some, but damn it, I can't stand crying kids in the grocery store. You know the ones, where the parents seem to have earplugs in and don't even attempt to intervene. Grrr. It looks like most of the time that this happens, the kids appear absolutely exhausted and the mom took their nap time to go to the grocery store.

Whew, you got me stirred up, Grant. I'll stop now. Don't want to become somebody's pet peeve.

People who say," If you really want to know..." after you have asked them a question. Of course I want to know that's why I asked!

The comment,"To tell you the truth" comes in second. What, do you lie to me every other time?

ALso, anyone who starts the line

"I am not being nosey but"
                        or
"I am not being rude but".

They obviously realise that they are being both of those two things, but think that a disclaimer at the start sort of lets them off.

Now I suppose someone will come along and say 'people who smack people in the head for no apparent reason...' or people who use to many '....' in their posts. haha. or people who type 'haha.....'

ugggghhh! this is my biggest one as far as the board goes. I've often wondered where this comes from

people that drive and talk on cell phones.

People that talk on cell phones when at the cashier in a store.

people that talk on cell phones in restaurants.

people that talk on cell phones in most public places really.

Yes i own a cell phone, and i do none of these things unless it's an emergency. I have a job that i am on 24 hr oncall so i will use it when paged, but i will leave a store/restaurant and go outside, in my car, i will not call anyone untill i have pulled over. I figure when i'm out, i'm out, leave me alone i will call you when i get home .

I think cell phones have got to be one of the worst things to happen to social etiquette in recent years.

Oh and im amazed by all the other posts how many people live in cities where you can still smoke in bars/restuarants you can't smoke anywhere here anymore.
