A not very nice realisation!

Has anyone else ever wondered why we bother to wash our hands after using a public toilet? After all all those people that DONT wash their hands have all touched the door handle on the way out. So all those people that DO wash their hands touch the same door handle!

Eww! Gross thought so early in the morning, but makes me want to use the paper towel that I dry my hands with to open the door! Never really gave that much thought!

Yes I have - that's why I always try and hold a weird part of the handle (that hopefully less people have touched) or use my sleeve, which is still gross, but I don't eat with my sleeves, etc.

I open the door with a paper towel when I leave and just throw the paper towel behind the door if there isn't a trash can nearby. Or I stall until someone else opens the door, and I sneak out behind them.

But I agree. It's pretty gross.

That sounds exactly like me, and it amazes me when I stand in the restroom (especially at restaurants) and see so many women who leave without washing their hands. I actually see more kids wash up than adults.

When I'm in the bathroom and I see kids who've forgotten to wash, I remind them. But you can't really do that with adults.

tbh I am surprised you can do that to kids. Its been known to lead to an adult being attacked by the kids for saying anything to them in Enggerland.

Respect etc has disappeared completely.

Well, I meant little kids, not teenagers. I don't think people should let small children into the bathroom unsupervised, but that's a whole different topic.

Even if we were to say that to small children we would probably get a mouth ful of abuse from them.
