  • Becoming an empty nester

It hasn't happened yet..but its starting.. My oldest son is 17..who is never home.. he works a lot and hangs out with friends and usually Friday and Saturday nights he is spending the night away.

My daughter is 14...and she is away right now too..

I am home alone and its driving me crazy... I hate this..and I am getting so depressed as the day goes on..

It has taken everything I have in me not to snack today.. There are Twizzlers in the kitchen calling me..

What in the world am I going to do when they really move out?

    Re: Becoming an empty nester

I am wondering the same thing....I have a 16 year old son who works all the time
and a 14 year old that is away at a friend's house now and soon will get his
license. MY hubby is always on the tractor somewhere on the farm.
I am very lonesome and daydream alot and read--but sometimes I just yearn
for real closeness when I feel this way and everyone is busy....I feel like I am needed but not really noticed sometimes....

        Sandy...
You must have had your kiddos early as you are only 37 and have teens!
I am 49 and had my boys later on. I too scrapbook but like you just don't
feel like dragging it all out just now. Wish we lived closer and we could get together
for coffee! Let me know if you run into something interesting to do this summer!

Sandy, I am very lonely at times, as I live so far across the world from all my friends and family, so what I have deicded to do is get a dog. I am waiting on my baby ´pomeranian and will pick him up in July. I think pets especially dogs, add and bring a lot of love to your home and takes away that lonely feeling. I am not a mom, so I dont feel that same way, but i do feel lonely and get the big D at times. Get a puppy a small lap dog, he will bring you a world of joy

Can someone be nice to Give me a good ticker for weight loss?

Get a lap dog, get yourself a sweet little minature puppy and bring him up, he will give you years and years of attention and love. Really.

Yes, I have stuff to, I do a lot of gardening, but geeze, I start to talk to the dang plants. I hope one of them does not speak back. I will run like **** . I think the human touch is something that a lot of women need. My husband works all the time and so I am very very often alone. I use the net as an esacpe from my loneliness, but it does not always help, but sometimes. But I still say get a puppy

yes I did have them young.. One good thing.. When the kids do move out I could have a scrapbooking room that I could fix up and not have to use the dining room table..

I did have my kids young..I was 20 and 23...

I use to scrapbook with some ladies once a month..but no one has gotten together in a few months

Then start from now, go for your goal. My goal this year is to at least learn basic French. I am horrible at laguages but I have to at least learn this language as I just love France and it is terrible to love a place and cant speak the language

Sandy hon, take a look at the little guy from today. I got a new pic. He is sooo tiny. they said he will be nearly 4lbs when full grown, so just a tiney winey thing. He looks like a stuffed teddy bear

SWIM! LOL Do you like to swim? I swam when I was a kid all the time and even toyed with the idea of joining the swim team when I was in HS, but never did. Then last year, after a friend suggested I take it back up - I did. Wow! I fell in love with it all over again.

We have a community pool here, so that's where I went. My diet had started slowing down and I was tired/bored with walking and swimming sure gave me the boost I needed.

First of all, it burns almost double the amount of calories in HALF the time. Yes, you read that right! LOL Second, I slept like a baby every freakin' night, because it wiped me out cold! No more eating at night when you're sleeping - right?!! Third - the pounds literally melted off - I kid you not! It whips you into shape fast. I had no idea the wiggle on your inner thighs was spot work material - until I began to swim. Lo & behold, that nasty skin on skin summer rub between my thighs began to get smaller and FIRMER! Crazy, huh?!! LOL

I think pets are ALWAYS a great option too, especially for people that have always been caretakers. I'm married and have a 17 year old, 14 year old, 6 week old (yes, you read that right as well!) and 2 golden retrievers.

Where ever you find children and pets you find a mother who always has something to do.
