Re: Becoming an empty nester
Well for me -- I am having the time of my life!
I finally get to do things that I enjoy. I have time to do the things I've always wanted to accomplish.
It's all about me, now. lol After giving so much of yourself to your children's needs and wants, you can focus on YOU.
What have I done with my time? I've exercised more. I've taken evening college courses. I'm trying to learn a second language. I take belly dancing classes and perform.
It has given me time to really focus on my career and excel in it.
I took a vacation with my DH -- all by ourselves -- to Jamaica.
It's all good!

Don't get me wrong, we love our kids, but now we have the time to focus on us instead of worrying about what the kids want and pleasing them. We've become more spontaneous in our activities and have tried many new things as well as rediscovering old past times.
