  • Anyone have a minivan?

What do you think of it? What kind of minivan do you have and what problems have come with it? Does anyone have a Nissan Quest?

DH and I are out to buy a minivan this morning and need some input as we have never had one but would like to get something reliable. Thanks!

Can't help with nissan quest, I have a '99 Chevy Venture now and currently looking into the Chevy Uplander. The Dodge Caravans and Chrylser Town and Country are very nice if you can get past the big white dials they have on the dashboard. Unfortunately, I can't get passed that look otherwise I would have walked away with one of those last week. Good luck finding something. Would love to hear your feedback on everything you view.

Atkid - thanks for your input - I really appreciate it.

Well, we did buy a 2007 Nissan Quest S today. So far, I LOVE it! For the first time, my dealership experience was VERY nice. They had free drinks, didn't try to rake me over and the sales rep I got was so wonderful that he deserves EVERY penny of commission he makes off of me.

I did some research on minivans this morning and lurked in consumer forums ad nauseum to see the good and bad opinions. I had already narrowed it to about 3: Quest, Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna as these hold their value well. Sienna is supposed to be the most comfortable, but underpowered along with having tranny issues (I don't like that part much). Honda Odyssey and Quest had the same problems: Air conditioner unit issues (which apparently are few and far between) and cosmetic issues after the first few thousand miles (i.e. rattles, things coming loose, etc.), which I am ok with. Quest is the roomiest of all and has consistently the best gas mileage (around 24mpg average), not to mention thousands less on the sticker price, warranty to 100,000 miles or 6 years, and 3 yrs/36K bumper to bumper. Has nice goodies like power side doors and liftgate that won't close on hands, and sensors that tell you if you are going to back into something. So far , I like it. I will probably puke when I see the bills come in, but it's a new car with only 20 miles on it.

        Re: Anyone have a minivan?

I know I am late in the thread.. But I use to have a Van..and I loved it and miss it.. Its so much nicer to have the extra seats...especially if you have kids And I am always carting someone extra with me.. One area I would make sure is that there is a decent back area for storage..some of them have tiny backs.. I drive a car right now and I feel mushed...

            Re: Anyone have a minivan?

Sandy - Thanks! Yes, this one is the roomiest one and the space is well designed for use. It's very nice to not feel crammed anymore. We actually park right next to our neighbor's new Toyota Sienna and have eyeballed our van to be about 6 inches longer. Although, I used to have a VOLVO 240 that had a HUGE trunk and I know that it is less room than a van but w/2 kids it probably would've been just right if I still had it.

Atkid - I hope this helps you out a bit. If all of my time researching can benefit more people than just myself, than those hours were REALLY well spent.
