    Megs,....
I reserved mine about two or three months ago as well...and I plan on being at Barnes & Nobles at 9pm for the "festivities" they do with every book release (little Harry Potter party) and then getting my book at midnight!!!!! I'll be up all night reading... but I should have it done by tomorrow at noon....

I'm anxious to see who the two main characters are that are gonna die... I have my own sneaky suspicions of who I think it should be... but, we'll see what Rowlings did with it.... I may cry when it's all done though, knowing there wont' be another!

Have you seen the new movie yet?

My friend in work is taking her daughter to our local bookshop at Midnight tonigt to collect her reserved copy!! lol!! the TV news had a story on all the people queuing in London for the book - they had been queuing since early this morning in really really heavy rain - they were all dressed in Harry charactors - they looked fab!! One guy even had a stuffed owl in a cage!! I think they all should have been given a copy for free for effort!! lol

      Enjoy the book

Yep, I'm going to be at my bookstore tonight picking up "my daughter's" copy. She's at camp and won't be back until tomorrow afternoon, so I ought to be through reading it by then. I started off reading them to my kids, but I'm probably more addicted than them, now.

I'll probably get a copy late Saturday or Sunday when the hub bub has died down. I didn't reserve an early copy but I always see it 40% off anyway and from the last couple of books it doesn't appear there is much danger of not being able to find a copy.

I don't read them personally, but i'm so curious to see the publics response to how it all ends...apparnetly JK Rowlings 'grieved for a week' after she wrote it ..if it affected her that way i'm sure it will affect her millions of readers .

              the power of literature..it's amazing.

I got it, I read it, I'm finished. I thought it was great. Won't reveal any secrets, though. It did end well. I'm functioning on 3 hours sleep because I'm crazy and read until 6 am.

I finished the book on Sunday. All I can say is WOW!

I cried out "NOOOOOO! Not Dobby!!!!!" and then I shouted "NOT FRED!!!!!!!" It's a good thing I wasn't at the park on Sunday when I read those parts....people would have thought I was weird.

I'm glad about the ending though---puts all the "But Ginny isn't Harry's type" people to rest.

The daughter of someone I know bought it at midnight and had it finished sometime later that day. She didn't sleep all night long - just read and read and read until she finished it.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!!!!

I finished it yesterday.... I cried from the get go.... to have deaths so early on in the book nearly broke my heart... especially considering the ones they were! And then it slowed down, so I'm glad I picked that spot to take a nap because had I gotten even two chapters farther I wouldn't have been able to put it down before it was done. I cried for the good last three hours of reading.. I know what Rowling's meant about grieving, it leaves you feeling like you've lost SO MANY of your close friends. I can't believe she killed THAT MANY people off... wow.

The only thing that really irked me was how it jumps from the end of the battle at Hogwart's to 19 years later.. I really wish she would have gone into what happened to them all after school at least a little bit rather than just who saw who on the platform 19 years later.....

But, I did feel like I got my justifications, the characters I needed to be good ended up being good, and the things I felt like needed to happen to wrap the whole thing up happened. Still, I haven't cried that much in a long, long time.

I also preordered the book - back in February believe it or not. I also finished it the same day. I agree, jumping to 19 years later didn't clear it up for me. I still have lots of questions. Some people are wondering if she left it open to write about the kids - HP's kids, I mean...

I hope she does write some more about them, it's hard to let them go. Kids finished reading it yesterday, now we can talk about it. There are a lot of questions left, I guess we can make up our own version!

Rowling said in an interview on the Today show, that she wrote a longer epilogue that included the names of the Weasley family children, etc. but she felt it became more of an encyclopedia than a literary work. So she cut it short.

However, the rumor is that she's going to publish a Harry Potter encyclopedia that gives the 'back stories' of characters and explanations of things. So that's something to look forward to....
