  • The hospital is practicing PASSIVE EUTHANESIA

My God, sorry to make a next topic, but my sister is NOT dying from the cancers in her body but the actual colon obstruction which the ONCOLOGIST at that hospital said why botehr to operate she is terminal anyway and will evenautlly die, so they left her for dead a month ago when she WALKED in the emergency room. Instead of operating then, they refused to do anything as she was a terminal cancer patient. Now this is passive Euthanasia. also, last night my sister BEGGED my other sistter to stop them from over drugging her as she is still able to speak, recognize everybody, talk about her childhood, ask about her bills tha are coming due and credit card bills, car insurance etc, now is thsi a woman who is unable to think for herself? they REMOVED her feeding against her and the family's will

Nobody in my family can afford to hire an attorney to help here, we tried to move her to another hospital which said they will take her, the one she is at REFUSED to release her. WTF is happening here, are they murdereing DHS patients in THE USA..... I called the news channel they wont touch it, cuz that is a big hospital and so the doc is doing this becusae SHE feel it is best when my sister said she does not want this. I dont understand what is happenign here.

She has terminal cancer but it is the actual blockage that is killing her becuase they refused all treatment for that

You don't really know that you can't afford an attorney unless you go out looking for one. Start making some phone calls. Maybe you'll find an attorney who doesn't get paid unless your family recovers some sort of settlement or sues the hospital successfully. And your sister can leave the hospital against medical advice. Can she still walk? If she can, then she can walk out the door and one of you can drive her to the other hospital. They may refuse to release her, but by all means, if she can sneak out the door, she should do it.

          I will check this out.

Thank you all, this is heart breaking for real. No, she cant walk she is too weak, but she can speak, laugh, make jokes and talk like normal but with a weakened voice. She has not had real food in her system for more than a month. _they refused her treatment to unblock the blocked colon saying she will die with the cancer anyway so why prolong it. THIS IS A CATHOLIC HOSPITAL DOING THIS for heavens sake. The doctor her oncologist GAVE up on her last year Spring and told her she will die in three months. She is still alive today, and can be alive longer if they will only operate and remove the blockage, it is a blockage more than a month old now. He belly is swelling and she looks ´pregnant, yes she is terminal cancer but her will to live is more than their will to kill her. This is truly pitiful. I will see if Legal aid can come into play as she is DHS help

Oh this link is great, I will act on it right away. I was one of those who was appalled at Terri's tube removal, it haunted me for weeks. this time around my sister is NOT brain dead but speaks and only thing she cant move cuz she is too weak and is constantly drugged up, the pain she has is not from the cancers in her body but the COLON blockage

What did the doctor say to your sister, exactly? If your sister is mentally competent, then she has the ability to make informed decisions about her healthcare. Whether the oncologist is of the opinion to do nothing because the operation has a greater chance of killing her than helping her, the ultimate decision lies with your sister or the person with power of attorny.

Also, last night my sister BEGGED my other sistter to stop them from over drugging her as she is still able to speak, recognize everybody, talk about her childhood, ask about her bills tha are coming due and credit card bills, car insurance etc, now is thsi a woman who is unable to think for herself?
Again, who is making your sister's medical decisions for her? If she has the ability to make medical decisions then what she says goes.

Regarding her pain management....as long as your sister tells the doctors or nurses she is in pain, they will keep adjusting her pain medications until she finds relief of her pain. No doctor in this country will deny her pain medications/analgesia because 1. the Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation has made pain control their number 1 priority and they dock hospitals whenever cases of inadequate pain control are found, and 2. pain control is a subjective thing---the doctor/nurse has to go by what the patient says, so if your sister tells them she is in pain, she will be treated for that pain.

they REMOVED her feeding against her and the family's will
Is there a court appointed guardian involved with this? Because the only times I've seen a patients and family's wishes overridden were in cases when a court appointed guardian was involved.

Nobody in my family can afford to hire an attorney to help here, we tried to move her to another hospital which said they will take her, the one she is at REFUSED to release her.
Was your sister medically stable to be moved? If she wasn't medically stable, the hospital and the doctor could be charged with medical negligence and patient abandonment if they transferred her.

WTF is happening here, are they murdereing DHS patients in THE USA..... When your sister was admitted to the hospital, what did she allow on her 'advance directives'? It's important to see what your sister agreed for the hospital to do and not to do.

If you want to pursue your complaints, I suggest you complain to the state medical board, the state's attorney general's office, the state's board on hospital accreditation. I suggest you write to these places. Make copies of the letters you sent and send them certified mail, so you have a receipt of their delivery.

And I agree with MissPhode....your sister can leave any time she wants. She merely has to signout "against medical advice" and she can leave: the hospital cannot force her to stay---unless there is a court appointed guardian or a next-of-kin involved who is not allowing her to leave.

              Good luck to you.

Nottolate, sorry I am so late, we have been fighting a battle with the hospital.

my sister is still alive and is holding out to the bitter end. She should have died two weeks ago. I fought like heck to save her. She has been recieving beter care but she will die. her cancer is all over her body. They cant operate as the colon is said to explode if they even try, so she will die, it is inevitable, she is holding out for dear life and suffering as she said, she will go when it is time and not before. She has lived 14 days longer than if I had not done something quickly.

She never gave the doctors anything written, and according to her she never said to them to stop feeding etc. it was them and their ethics to live or die committe who decided. It all came out int he open.

I had media TV, Radio and newspapers contact them, one TV crew was camped outside the Oncology dept, they refused to interview. Vatican called them, right to life called, the embassy called, the board of heath called, the board of doctors called, two strong people on capitol Hill who believe in right to life called, NAMES withheld for privacy purposes. They were running like chickens without a neck and catspradling all over doing for her because word got out what they were doing. There is an article in CNN yesterday about this but not her case. Many hospitals around the USA are practicing this for terminal patients and people are holding on to their loved ones. If a patient says I dont want to prolong it and keep me sedated and out of it thenthat is their right, but is it still passive euthanasia.

She is in pain BUT, according to her, she wants to be awake and not sedated because if she will die she wnats to know what is happening and who is coming to see her and call her, so she has told them DONT put me to sleep I dont want this, i want to spend the last hours of my life awake and aware, it was said in front a hospital lawyer, my mother sister, brothers etc and friends, nun, priest etc. They have to obey her living wishes.

I was just crying, she had a bowel movement yesterday on the bed, so we all celebrated that finally the blockage is passing out. It turned out to be thick red BLOOD . This is when she said to my mother last night, I know I am dying, all before she wont accept it, I just broke down. It is so sad that anybody must suffer so much before they die. She cant even go outside to see the sunshine. Her legs are badly swollen and tummy is as if 9mths pregnant. I spoke to her two nights ago and choked in my tears, she seemed to strong in what she was saying and I knew none of those things will come to pass. But I had to just listen and tell her get well soon before making those plans. I should have made a blog on this on the net, I am sure it would have reached a wide wide audience. I may still do it in her memory when that dreadful and sad day comes.

Her disgusting filthy husband has not made contact. he has been contacted by all means, including an official letter from the Embassy, still no attempt to contact her. We feel she is holding out to make right with him before she goes. Sometimes people do this.

I have been praying for her to find peace, tranquility and comfort in the lord, she has given her life to the lord so I hope when that dreadful day or night or hour comes, he lifts her up to his mighty heaven and comfort her and that all her pains and sickness will be vanished.

Also, I have been so depressed over this, I have literally EATEN 5 huge chocolate bars in the past week and have gained like 10lbs, been eating for spite and just doing it out of anger, because she cant eat and I can and so I said the heck with it, i am eating for her. I know this is not good but I am so angry . Today on the other hand, I have locked up and cant even drink becuase I have this heavy iron knot in my stomach with the news of the BM being blood. They will give her a transfusion but it wont save her, it will only prolong her until the time comes. God bless my sisters heart, soul and mind.

Pips, unless your sister has a guardian, she has the right to refuse treatment, refuse medications, refuse anything she wants. However, if she has a guardian or someone hold a power of attorney over her, then the hospital is legally compelled to follow that person's decisions.

That's why I asked if someone has guardianship over your sister. Typically, if a person says "I don't want that medication", they cannot give that medication because it's assault. But that's ONLY if your sister does not have a guardian.

Also I wrote, I think you should call the state medical board, the state attorney general's office and the state board that regulates hospitals and file a formal complaint.

                          Hi

I did report that hospital and doctors, and no, my sister doe snot have a guardian over her. She is weak and sick but her mind is in tact and so is her mouth. She told them she does not want those meds they have been giving her. However, before we intervened they were doping her out of reality. It was when my sister went to visit and realize that my sick sister wanted to speak but couldnt get the words out, she went and asked what are they doing to her. One thing led to the next and the crap was flying with 24 hours. NOW she recieves tip top treatment and care, before they were only killing her as they said, MAKING HER GO IN PEACE AND PAINLESS that was almost 3 weeks ago. She had NO clue what drugs they were giving her, but check this, when they came to her bed in a drugged state they will ask do you want more ans she wil mumble yes, without knowing what the more was. they held that as she asking for meds which she really was not. They are so full of ít. Now the latest, she went for a cat scan and the foolish girl took her cell phone with her, it is turned on and guess what? Cat scan dept remembers taking it from her, but strangely they dont recall seeing it after that LOL. Now big confusion in the hospital to find out where the phone disappeared to.

I sent her a lovely arrangement today, I hope it brightens her day at least.

Can someone be nice to Give me a good ticker for weight loss?

I suggest you call this number: 800-994-6610 and speak to someone about what's going on at that hospital. It is to the Joint Commission, which is responsible for hospital accreditation and patient safety.
