Re: Inspirational Advice
My Dad told me to always think of how others feel and be considerate in my actions.
Also that people love their opinion being asked (which has been a great tip!) and that if nervous of talking to people, or to a crowd, imagine everyone on the toilet
Those latter ones not inspirational, per se, but good advice!

Re: Inspirational Advice
It turns out my Mom really WAS right about everything, but it took me some growing up before I realized it.
One caution she gave me that for some reason sticks in my head more than any other was: "Lay down with dogs, wake up with Fleas Wendy!". I remember she didn't like the group of kids I was hanging out with at time. Turns out she WAS right about them - hanging out with them DID lead me astray although I didn't believe her beforehand!
We do tend to pick up habits and mannerisms, etc. from those we surround ourselves with - and that's why I love this board so much! You guys are the best!5'4" Female, 39 Years

Re: Inspirational Advice
My dad told a story once about a gentleman who went to a very fancy dinner party- everything was done up beautifully- the room was full of impressive people. As he started eating his salad- he noticed a catepillar in the lettuce leaves. The hostess also noticed it in horror. they were the only 2 that did. The gentleman took it out of the salad and placed it on the floor without making a scene. The hostess was so grateful she later left him money in her will. Moral of the story- there is no need to embarass others, to point out their faults, the make someone uncomfortable. That story has stuck with me all those years. My father was a lot like that- went out of his way to make people feel comfortable.Restart weight 8/07=214

Re: Inspirational Advice
To always treat others as you would like them to treat you.
If you can't find anything good to say about someone, don't say anything at all.

These are three things I always remember my mother saying over and over
and one horrid one that I am trying to forget..."Always eat everything on your plate"Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Re: Inspirational Advice
My dad was so wise. He taught me alot of things, but mostly he was an example every day of his life. I miss him more each day and he's been gone for 13 years tomorrow.
He used to tell me "you can do anything you make up your mind you want to do". I think that quote has revolutionized my life.
