  • Is there an accent that really grates on your nerves?

The question is in the title!

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Grates the nerves? Hmm, not really. I have come across some that I just can't understand but that's usually because the terms are not the same--i.e., crisps where you are translate to potato chips here.

Other than that I love accents.

I used to hate the east coast accent. I'm getting used to it now.

In the risk of offending any Swedish people out there...that one grates on my nerves.

Nigerians. I just try and try and try to understand them, but it's no use. I stay away from certain companies because that's all they hire. It's sad but when you are trying to tell them you have change coming back from your gas purchase they look at you like you have a purple head and ugh, nevermind.

Don't want to offend any nice Aussies, but I can't say I like the accent one little bit.

Deep southern accents. They seem to add syllables to words that should have none.
Ex: The word wet. You say WET.....but they say "WAY-IT". Drives me crazy.

                    East Coast Accent? Just one?

There's Maine "Ayuh, cahn't get theah from heah"
Boston "Hey Joewee, thayat gehm was wicket pissah!"
New York "Yowa from Longeyeland too? Ohmeyegawd let's go get cawwfee!"
                    and myriad sub-accents.

I don't much care for a Cockney accent. However, lots of others from the British Isles are terribly sexy (Toff Scottish? Be still my heart).

Okay, I have to say strong New Jersey accents and some New York accents - but only when they are loud. Just then.

The one that bothers me most is New Hampsha. Someone was asking about playing cards, and I thought they said playing cods....you know, like fish?

                              Ulster, Liverpool.

I can't understand a word broad Glaswegians say, but it doesn't "grate".

Wiltshire is fine, Rich, but Brissol is more fun!
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
                              he said, 'Don't count calories.'
