    10. You get winded from knocking on the door.

    9. You have to have another kid chew the candy for you.

    8. You ask for high fiber candy only.

    7. When someone drops a candy bar in your bag, you lose your balance and fall over.

    6. People say, "What a scary mask!" but you're not wearing a mask!

    5. When the door opens you yell, "Trick or..." and can't remember the rest.

    4. By the end of the night, you have a bag full of restraining orders.

    3. You have to carefully choose a costume that won't dislodge your hairpiece.

    2. You're the only Power Ranger in the neighborhood with a walker.

    and last but not least...

    1. You avoid going to houses where your ex-wives live.

Us, British males are few and far between on this board, we can't let the side down. It's just not cricket, you know.

        Or rounders.

Sorry, I assume that that is Latin?

I know nothing about Latin except for vidi vici (whatever comes next).

Oh and my old boss used to have his screen saver written in latin also (on scrolling marquee type thing).

Did you learn Latin at school Hayden?

Re: 10 tell tale signs that you may be too old to go trick or treating.........

I did. For one year only.
(quickly, I'd like to point out, that I went to a standard state funded comprehensive school).
My father learnt Latin, for his 11-plus, and taught me a lot, as part of our father-and-son bonding. I find Latin fascinating.

Today, interesting, I was talking about Latin to a co-worker. I was talking about the difference between "pod" and "ped". He was showing me his new Tripod, that he'd bought for his camera at lunch time.

The conversation evolved that I explained that "something-pod", in Latin, means fixed leg.
Then that "something-ped" in Latin means moving leg.

That's why, we Pedal a bicycle.
                        That's why, we are Pedestrians.
                        That's a centipede, has 100 moving legs.

Then, we finished eating our lunch.

However, I enjoy Latin. I have a lot to thank my father for.

                          Hayden, this is fascinating.
Why is a foot Dr. called a Podiatrist instead of a Pediatrist? This has never made sense to me. Pediatrician, yes. Little kids are FAST ON THEIR FEET!

Wait, back to the Hallowe'en thing - aren't you a Brit? Do you guys do the trick or treating thing? I've heard of Samhain celebrations, but those are a bit different, no?

Trick and Treating, is an American Import into British Culture.
My mother, never used to let me go Trick-or-Treating, because she felt it was crass.

What we used to do instead as a family, is (and this is going to make our family sound like such snobs, but I can't hide the truth) play parlour games. Board games, or apple bobbing, or other silliness.

I can see the enjoyment that kids have with trick-or-treating. When I have children, I might or might not let them go trick-or-treating.

There is a famous line, that was written in an old British Victorian book, about homemaking. It's been used again, since. The line is:
"The family that eats togther, stays togther."

I know that Rich, and then Emma will poke fun at me about that parlour games thing.
However, it's just that we tried very hard, to play together as a family.
                              Hayden.
