Since my job description is "mommy" mine are all kid related.

1. Your kids are ADORABLE.

2. What are their names?

3. How old are they?

4. What school are they in?

5. Isn't that cute?


You never go wrong when it's about kids. Most mommies are so starved for adult conversation that once you get us going it's hard to shut us back up! lol

Isnt this weather terrible!! (You can use this anytime, anyplace, anywhere in the uk!! lol)

Can you believe this is meant to be the summer!! lol (that was a very typical one for our horrid summer! lol)

That looks like an intersting drink!! (at the bar to whoever is ordering next to me!!)

I love your shoes/handbag!! lol (normally in the queue in the ladies toilets!)

Oh what a gorgeous dog!! lol (that one is when I'm out walking the dog!! lol)

... Hmmm that's about it. lol. I don't normally start conversation if I can help it... I'm adventurous like that...

If I know you already and we're friends I'll say "What's up my sista!" (or brotha lol depending on your gender)... and it's said in a goofyish voice.

The hardest conversations to get started are with my 17 yo son--Here are the ones that work best for him.

How was band?
I heard there was a fight at school, what happened?
I looked up your grades on the internet and your sociology teacher is on crack again--can you get her to record your grades correctly before the 6 weeks is up?
Can you take out the trash and unload the dishwasher before you go to . . .? (That's a good one for lots of conversation, but not always productive for actual work)
I'm going as a sponsor on the band bus, isn't that great?
