I don't think so. I have really good dreams at night And even though I know they don't last as long as I experience them, I'm quite satisfied with what I see in my dreams.
You fast forward through bad stuff, or at least we all want to and for me sleep is awsome! I wish there was a slow down button, not just for sleep but for other things in life too.

Yes! I know we need our sleep and we all look & feel so much better when we get it but really it does seem like such a waste of time. Really, we're not here 'that' long and to sleep half the time seems to be a waste!
Every night I think of how before I know it I'll be waking up again... It's weird really...

Re: Is sleep just lifes "fast forward" button?

For the computer folks out there, sleep is your body defragging its harddrive.
For the homeowners, it's spring cleaning and yearly repairs.
For the plumbers it's getting the hairballs out of the U-bend and soldering the leaks.
For the riders it's mucking out the stall and letting the horses get some pasture time.
For car enthusiasts it's the lube job with new belts and plugs.

Repair, clean out, organize and playtime. That's what sleep is to your brain. It recharges your immune system, and your cells run around and clean up the day's damage (including new wrinkles, so don't skimp on it!). It's the time that your brain actually processes the things you learned and organizes them into readily retrievable fashion (sleep loss destroys memory).

And all the same, I wish we didn't need it.

I agree that it's the fast forward button...especially when I go to bed at 2am and wake up at 6:30 every morning.....
