No way, i've still not unpacked everything from my move! i've not finished decorating either, ugh... i should get to that, i need to rope in some helpers...

So I keep hearing and reading that people in Europe get 4-6 weeks of paid vacation per year. Is that true?Comment

by law you have to have 4 weeks vacation days PAID. but there was a loophole that they could include the 8 bank holidays (ya know those weird days we get off throughout the year)
the recent law has just changed to say employers cant use these days to make up the vacation entitlement meaning we now have to have 20 vacation days PLUS 8 days bank holidays.
I get just that, my boss is mean
at my other job where i work part time i get 6 weeks vacation plus 8 bank holidays.

This should make you feel better. I get 6 paid holidays, and 10 vacation days. After I'm with the company for 5 years, my vacation days increase to 15. Probably by my fifth anniversary they will probably take that extra perk away. Of course, this doesn't include weekends, but why should it? I don't work weekends at my job.Comment

Yeah yours is really CRAP! i remember my friend who i lived with over there got crappy ones, i couldnt believe it!
Our laws are good for something... but i still complain to my current boss that i dont get enough...
So how long do you get off at christmas? and how much of that is paid? or do you have to use your vacation days?
Most companies here take 1-2 weeks and you get paid for that on TOP of your allowance
