This has nothing to do with Atkins but I just had to tell the story of what occurred early this morning in our house.
I decided to cook some bacon in the microwave as I have been doing frequently for the last 2 weeks since I eat about 2 strips per day. I took my trusty Pyrex glass oblong pan (formerly used for lasagna--the evil
kind) and lined it with 2 paper towels and added about 8 strips of bacon and covered it with another paper towel.
Popped it in the microwave for 9 minutes on high and off I went back to the bathroom to finish my makeup. As I was sitting in there applying mascara all of a sudden there is a huge **EXPLOSION** and Squinky (my mini schnauzer) starts barking like crazy. Now, Squinky will be 14 in February and it takes a LOT to get her barking these days.
Of course I poked myself in the eye with the mascara wand and went running into the kitchen where I find the microwave still cooking my bacon. Upon further inspection I find that my Pyrex baking dish has exploded in the microwave. I had no idea that could happen. Took about an hour when I got home to clean it up. Imagine using the vacuum hose attachment in your microwave
I will now go and buy a proper microwave bacon cooker! No one told me that this WOE could be dangerous
