  • a Snake story!!! lol

This has been giving me nightmares for days!! Lol

My mums friend told her this tale!!! Its true!!!

A local lady from our town had a python snake, she’d had it for over 10 years and it was really friendly! It used to sleep in a coil on the bottom of her bed each night.

Then she got herself a boyfriend!! And he moved in!

Well the snake started to act really strangely, stopped eating, and at night time started to sleep between the lady and her boyfriend in a long straight line.

So she took the snake to the vets, as she was really worried about it, and the vet told her that he would have to put the snake to sleep, as all the details she had told him, led him to believe that the snake was “sizing” one of them up to kill them!! He said it was lying out next to them, to see if the size would be ok to eat them!!! OMG!!! It totally turned my stomach!!! Imagine waking up and finding your snake has eaten your boyfriend!! lol

OMG Jane, that is hideous! I am TERRIFIED of snakes - I would never ever let one near me, let alone on my bed! Crazy!

This reminds me of a recent story about a child with a giant pet snake that slept with it wrapped round him at night. I tried to find it on line nut can't remember which country it was in.

I've seen a couple of snakes in Okinawa.

In fact, I didn't realise how close I was stand to one, at one point.

After, my initial reaction (jump 3 foot in the the air, backwards and to the left), I realised that he was just coiled up, warming himself in the sun, and didn't really care about me standing there.

Could have poked him a few times, with an unnecessary and protectively long bamboo stick, but I didn't have the guts.

Yikes Hayden, I bet they are proper snakes there too.

I once nearly trod on a snake in the UK - I was jogging through a cornfield and nearly landed on it all curled up. I totally freaked. I have a literal phobia of snakes. I once felt sick for nearly an hour after BF told me he had touched a snake about 13 years before! Haha, that is a mad phobia. I wouldn't touch a snake for a million quid, also mad.

My friend has a Freudian theory about this phobia...

Under Freudian therapy. If you commit suicide halfway through. They make you pay for the sessions you'll miss.

sorry, that's an old old joke.

The Adder. Which is the ONLY ingenious poisonous snake in the UK. Would kill a baby, but would only make you (an adult) really really ill. You'd live.

Yes. The snakes in Okinawa are really nasty. Proper snakes.
I saw (and wish I'd taken a photo) signs written in English and Japanese on the entrance to the beaches. Warning people to stay away from the grass (snakes) and to shuffle, not stamp your feet if you did walk in the grasses.

Shuffling your feet, will transmit vibrations to the ground that the snakes can feel, then as they are mostly timid, mostly, they will slither off.
If you walk, or stamp your feet, then there is less chance the snake will hear you, and much more chance you'll step on one. If you do step on the snake, then it will naturally rear up, and bite you on the ankle or leg.

The signs in Okinaka, just told you to shuffle your feet, I learnt the rest, when I was making chit-chat with the locals, when I was buying a drink of water.

                  Oh, Damn it !!

Lol, I was thinking of Harry Potter.

A Thomas Hardy character dies of an adder bite (and part abandonment by only child) in Return of the Native. Is this factually incorrect?!

factually incorrect?, not entirely. Medicine is much better now, and if identified as a Adder bite, then an anti-venom, could be in an air-ambulance to you within a couple of hours.

Your strength to resist a toxin, is still reduced as a child, to that of an adult.
