He is a good boy and will help pay for it but we are looking at about $200 USD a month.

I soo know the feeling - my daughter finally turned 21 so that brought it down a little --
Soon as she finishes college she is going to have to start paying for it herself (well we will probably continue to pay for about 6 more months so she can get on her feet)

My son is 23 1/2, has a clean record from the age of 16, dean's list at school and still pays 900. every 6 months. Car insurance is a ripoff.

            Car insurance is a ripoff.
I'm in my late 30's, married, perfect driving record, and still paying $190 a month (got my license at 33). at least it's not the $240 i was originally paying.

My stepdaughter is turning 16 this year and will be getting her license, so i'll be hyperventilating with you in a few months Lauren!

i feel your pain....ds is 20, honors student, no record at all and still....GAG. i will tell you that it pays to have it when you need it. his car was broken into and the comprehensive paid for everything.....i guess it is the kind of thing you hate to pay for but are darn glad to have if (GOD FORBID) you need it

we DO get a pretty hefty discount for being a good student...check and see if you might too..

$200 a month??!!!! Wow! Insurance is quite costly in Canada...I thought it was just wild here in the US.

I'm 21, and i've been off my moms insurance for almost a year now and it started at 140, now it's at 80 a month. Even when I was on my moms it was only 150, what insurance places is everyone using??

It depends a lot on what area you are in too. Here in southern cali it is ridiculous. When I was in Mississippi, it was cheap.
