  • Vegas baby!

I am going to vegas this summer with a group of women for a conference. We are staying at the Riviera bc that is where the conf is. Anyone ever stayed there? Also, what is the best show for the money? Where do we just have to eat? Any other advice? We will be there 5 days well 4 and a half I guess should we buy a monorail pass? My dh and I went a couple years ago for a couple days but we didn't get to do everything we wanted and there was lots we just didn't know about so anyone who lives near or goes there often I would love to hear from you! Thanks!!

Hi. Dont have a show to recommend since Siegfried and Roy however I advise that you take a trip to Hoover dam and go on a helicopter tour over the dam and the grand canyon. My wife and I went there on our honeymoon 10 years ago and I believe it cost $250 for both of us but the experience was unbelievable and the views were out of this world. Dont know much bout the Riviera though, last time we were in Vegas that hotel's employees were on some kinda labor strike and we didnt feel like crossing a picket line. Have fun and remember, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. God Bless, Joe

My favorite cheap, low carb meal in Vegas: Ellis Island Casino. It's on Koval, just a block off the strip, near Flamingo. You'll be able to find it in the phone book. You get a GREAT filet w/ green beans (they can hold the mashed potatoes), and a salad for $4.99. One of the few really good cheap meals still in Vegas. But fair warning: Ellis Island is a smokey dive!

I just went there this weekend. Even if you get a monorail pass, you will get to do a lot of walking because it goes behind the hotels. I rode it though..and the buss too. The monorail pass is $9 for 24 hours and bus is $5 for all day. I didn't get to eat there but I heard the best buffet was at the Wynn. I wanted to see circ de soilel "Ka" but didn't get to go because it was my brother's birthday and he wanted to go to the midevil dinner show at Excalibur. It was Atkin's friendly because it was a baked cornish hen with a bunch of broccoli. Cher heard the Jersey Boys show was really good. While we were there, we heard the circ de soilel Beatle's show "Love" wasn't good...and the tickets are like over $100.

I knew that there was tons of walking even with the pass b/c my husband and I went for a couple days 2 years ago. Good exercise though! Would it still be worth the money to get the monorail pass? Do we need a bus pass if we are staying only on the strip or are the buses for off stip things only?

I actually had one of each because I already had a bus pass and I just wanted to ride the monorail. The bus gets you closer to things but the traffic can get bad. The monorail was never crowded like the buses were but they let you out at the back of the hotel and you had to walk a loooong way to get back to the strip. After I rode the monorail the first time and it wasn't novel any more, I actually preferred the bus.
