    Fat is an environmental issue

    is the title of a New Scientist.com news brief summarizing a report from The Lancet. It can be found here.

    I suppose I don't have a problem with the basic premise but this statement bugged me a bit.

    "Nor do the calculations take into account the extra likely consumption of meat protein by fatter people. Each kilogram of meat is estimated to require 7 kg of vegetable matter as feed."

    Thanks for the link. I'm one of those who think grains should not be fed to either livestock or humans. We're all being fattened in corporate feedlots.
