Olympic Opening Ceremony

I watched the opening ceremony on the BBC as it happened - 1pm London Time.

It was impressive.

The Princess Royal (Princess Anne) and President Bush's faces were seen from time to time.

The fireworks will have done nothing to clear the air.

Did anyone else see it in real time?

Didn't see that bit. The march past of all the teams is never that interesting, so I left for a bike ride after the Brits had entered.

Picked my first brambles of the season (wild blackberries).

Exercise is not an option: it's compulsory!

They all looked bored....in that heat, I'm surprised they were able to even sit there.

It was a great show. The parade of athletes was really long but awesome to see the countries that were representing. It was kind of cool to see one lone person representing one country all by himself carrying his county's flag. I thought he had the world on his shoulders from that point on.

I was hoping they wouldn't. Not that last night wasn't great...it was really techno-savy, but I would like to see something from the host country that represents who they are.
