  • UK ADBBers - Bonfire Night?

    Hey all UK people,

Any plans for bonfire night? People don't seem to celebrate it anymore - not so much anyway.

I hear there is going to be an effigy of 'Ross Brand' burnt at Lewes...

It is an amazing sight - scroll down on this page for more info (if want ) Lewes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I always feel a bit uneasy about celebrating because I'm not pro-monarchy, and also read a horrible account of Guy Fawkes torture at an impressionable age. Is a good tradition though, fond childhood memories.

Not doing anything tonight except kickboxing. Might see if local supermarket has sparklers tho...

Re: UK ADBBers - Bonfire Night?

Our local bonfire was on the field just across the road from my house - it was on Saturday and it threw it down with rain.

About 500 attended, when the normal turnout would be between 3 and 4000.

Sad for the organisers, and for the charities it was in aid of.
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
        he said, 'Don't count calories.'

          I missed this.

It was rainy here too. Shame. It doesn't seem to stop at the mo.

Oh goodness! I'd forgotten all about bonfire night, living over here. Don't think I've thought of it in years. I have wonderful childhood memories of it though.

I think I'll have to keep the fire extra stoked on Nov 5th!!!

Edited to add: I just saw the date!!!! So much for stoking my fire... I'm days and days too late!! Oh well... I'll stoke it anyway tonight!
