Temperature for outside swimming

Hi all

I am planning a holiday for May and trying to work out what temp is ok for outside swimming. The place I'm looking at has a max of 21 celsius (69 fahrenheit). Does anyone know if this would make it freezing to swim?!

It would be freezing to me... lol. If you're going someplace with a heated pool it would probably be okay but if you'll be swimming in ocean or lake water I think you'll be cold!

I swam in 64F water temperature once in February 2007 and it was freezing! And I had more fat on me then too Makes you feel alive! Where are you traveling to?

Hmm, not sure what to do. Warmer places are beyond our budget (it's a honeymoon). We are looking at the Balearic islands of Spain. There is one with a heated pool which is very appealing

Defly go with a heated pool if it seems like it will be cold outside. That way if it rains too you can still go swimming!

Honeymoon!!!! wow miss!!!! how fantastic!!! Congratulations!!!!!!

Alexa we went to Benidorm in October, and it was about that hot, and I swam in the pool and in the sea!! And the pool was in the shade! so it woke you up when you jumped in, but once you got used to it, it was fine! the kids played all day in it! (and the big kids too!! me!!!) Off to PM you now!!!

Wow, I'd skinny dip right now if it was 21c outside!! LOL but that's because it's -21 here at the moment.

I think it depends on the person and what your used too....Personally I swim in 21c temps no problem. I'd say anything under 18 would be too cold for me.

I'd say it would be bearable with an outside pool Jeez, I'm sure days in Southend when I was a child were lower than 21 degrees C and we've brave the sea lol

Mind you... ask a Floridian, and they have handwarmers, scarves, long coats, hats and boots on at that temperature (when I was wearing shorts lol)

Enjoy your honeymoon wherever you choose!

And.. have you thought of the Canaries - similar price I would have thought, but just that bit warmer.
