we adopted a new puppy today!!!

So my fiance and I already are the "proud parents" of a 5 year old black pug named Petey as well as my "baby girl" - an 8 year old calico cat (my fiance hates the cat, lol)...

well we'd been talking about getting another dog once we moved into our first house and finally had a yard big enough for a big dog to run around in...our side yard will be fenced in on April 6th - and so we started looking for golden retrievers.

we found one that we both wanted to look at at a rescue that saves puppy mill puppies about 2 hours north of where we are here in Indy, (in Akron, IN)...

we went to visit her last saturday and went back today to pick her up (she needed to be spayed).

LUCKILY she is only about 4 months old and so we are hoping that it won't take too long to get her to trust us - BUT I know we do have a challenge ahead of us.

she is SO incredibly beautiful but VERY shy. we brought her home and let her run around on the back porch while we were grilling...we let her stay out there for a bit when we came back in, as she just didn't want to come inside (which is good that she loves being outside, as that is what the rescue said and we saw that last week when we first met her)...

but my fiance was able to bring her inside and she's been laying on the floor next to our couch for the last hour.

of course, our pug is curious and i think they'll get along well - my cat already hissed at her because she thinks she's in charge...

but anyways - just wanted to share our wonderful news!!!!

Well, well, well!! Wondered where you were today as I didn't see many posts from you!! Congrats on your new arrival!! She's precious! Chloe....we love 24 here in my home too!! You're going to love watching her shyness disappear as she settles in. It'll take a little time and then she'll realize she's hit the jackpot! So happy for you! Good for you for saving her!

give her lots of love and she'll come around to you. She needs to know there is a special place that is hers alone. We got our puppy under the same circumstances. My 15 year old beagle mix passed in the morning and that afternoon I went to the animal rescue in the town where my mom lived (before she moved in with us) because the paper said they had 200 puppies and older dogs that had been taken out of a puppy mill outside of town who desperately needed homes. I knew I couldn't be without a dog for even a day, so I went to the shelter and found my special fur baby that afternoon. At the time she was barely 8 weeks old and had 2 brothers, her name was "lady" but we changed it to Sadie. She is a wonderful little girl and has been a special addition to our home. We had her spayed 1 month after we got her - she's now on a diet because she ate too many treats over the winter!!!

awww - sadie is beautiful!!!

yeah - while we're very excited to have her, I must admit I'm a bit nervous as I just feel SO very sad for her.
BUT she is totally in a good home now.

we will be getting her a doghouse for outside (we really have a feeling that she'll pretty much be an outside dog - but again, that's WHY we're putting up the fence)...but she will have as much love and attention we can give her.

aawwww she us BEAUTIFUL! our pup's name is chloe too! but she is much smaller! i am happy she has a good home. she'll be part of the family in no time. our calico doesn't like our dog either and the pup can't figure out why she doesn't want to play! soon they'll all be fast friends. she is a doll.
