    Family who are 'too fat to work' say £22,000 worth of benefits is not enough - Telegraph

    £22 000 = $31 000
    Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',

    Male 6 ft 3in 60 years old. Married 28 years.
    Began Atkins March 04 at 260lb, reduced to 203lb by April 07 and maintained.
    Blood Pressure Mar 04 147/94 . Jun 04 121/74 . Dec 04 119/72 . Jan 06 126/71 . Dec 07 110/70
    Atkins makes exercise mandatory - I took up cycling - see last pics at 203lb.

          wow. the sad thing is? I'm not surprised that governments allow this. i may sound cynical - but people are lazy and expect people to give them things instead of actually working HARD for what they "deserve".

            I have seen this family before in the press.

            I come from a family of fatties, my genetic inheritance is a predisposition to put on weight very easily. I also weigh about the same as the two young girls in the pictures.

            I run my own business, keep a household in order and have an active social and cultural life.

            This whole family needs a lot of work on them, the youngsters are only following the example set to them by their parents. Mrs Chawner does have some genuine medical conditions, it is VERY hard for people with epilepsy to get a job and keep it - but Mr Chawner owes it to those two young women to go and get himself some kind of work and start setting a fatherly example, even if it is a bit late in the day.

            I hope this family start thinking a bit more positively about all the wonderful things that lie outside the front door of their house and away from the TV screen.
