well - it's official...

    well - it's official...

    My new name is Mrs. Keri-Ann Harper!!!!!!

    We did it last night. my parents - our best friends - and my minister - here on our back porch (i planted potted flowers on our garage over the weekend)...

    I will post pics as soon as I get one from my mom or my best friend, Jenn.

    Called this morning and he has insurance!!!!! (the main reason we did this now instead of waiting for the wedding next year).

    I'm not actually changing my name until next year, though, which sucks because I sooooo want to - but it'll be a LOT easier to keep the secret until the actual WEDDING if I don't. (course that doesn't mean I can't start the process say in April of next year...)

    But I just HAD to tell someone since we are planning on telling no-one in "real life"...(no offense but ya'll know what i mean).

      just for clarification - we did this because he is in need of surgery & has no insurance. If we waited til "open enrollment" with my company it'd be "after taxes" until the wedding next june AND he wouldn't actually be insured until January and he literally needs this surgery right now.

                        You are such a cute couple! I was wondering what you were doing posting on ADBB yesterday if you were getting married that night. Thought you had backed out!

                        I'm glad he has insurance. My son has terrible scoliosis and was supposed to have the really bad surgery (3-4 months in the hospital) when he was 16, but he wouldn't go through with it. They showed him videos of the surgery and I don't know how anyone would be subjected to that surgery knowing what they do. He has a lot of trouble with his arms and hips.

                          Yeah - he is SO happy to finally have insurance. He actually had the rods put in when he was 12 - he's 35 now - and basically what they're gonna do is just remove one of them, as it's come loose and has been creating a very nasty skin irritation / infection on his back.

                          but he hasn't had any insurance since he was 16 i think?...

                          I just hope (and don't think i'm selfish for this) but I really hope that it's not genetic...I myself have so many freakin' issues (horrible ear stuff which runs in my mom's family, bad vision - although i did have lasik done - diabetes in the family, etc...etc...) that I don't want to have to worry about our children....ya know?
