We are having a 90+ Heat Wave with a 100% Humidity!!!

The Temp outside here in Northern Maryland at 12:40 PM 92' & in my Swimming Pool is 88' LOL

Do you feel that the extra hot temps will effect your Atkins Program in any way???

I will need to drink extra water & swim for exercise later in the evening so that I will be able to breath better when the humidity has calmed down a bit!!!

It is in the 80's in Michigan but very high humidity so it feels awful. I am combating it by staying inside in the air conditioning. I will get some exercise cleaning today, which I wouldn't do if the air wasn't on. For dinner I will cook on the grill so we don't heat up the house. We are haivng a pork loin and salad. We may go swimming this afternoon too.

You Yankees in the northern part of the state are wimps when it comes to heat and humidity. Down in the southern part of Maryland where I am, summers are ruled by the 3 H's : Heat, Humidity, Haze. It perfect tobacco growing weather (when we still planted tobacco down here), but the corn, beans, and tomatoes don't seem to mind.

And let's get real here.....it hasn't been a bad summer temperature-wise at all. Typically, it's already in the upper 80s with humidity of about 80% in May and the weather stays like that all the way through September. We could use alittle more rain, though.

Anyhow, I do my activities in the early morning or in the evening when it is cooler. So the weather doesn't affect me. Like the saying goes---only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noon day sun.

It's currently 91 degrees, with the heat index at 97 degrees. Unfortunately, I suffer from a medical disorder (RSD) which is seriously affected by heat and humidity. I should be canning tomatoes, today, but that is not going to happen.

I decided not to install my window AC units this year, so I am doing very little and still suffering. That's not a whole lot different from when I used the AC: somehow, even with the AC, my body still knew it was hot and humid outside and went ahead and had a neuropathic melt-down.

July was very cool here, so I will just wait out the heat wave.

Heat index of 91 is what we typically see around June to early July here. Late July through early September is when we see heat indices in the upper 90s to low 100s.

But as Sunny said, it's been a cool summer this year.

It was about 100 yesterday...of course 10% humidity is high for us! There is something to the "dry-heat" arguments! Of course, most of us don't have air conditioners; we have evap coolers, so it's still pretty flippin hot.

With my Lupus the higher temps & humidity do not play well together!!!

My hands & feet swell, have not seen my ankels in days & breathing outside during the day is very hard!!!

AC becomes my true bestfriend, my BF if we have have to go out start's the truck & turns on ahead of time!!!

We had our "heat wave" here in Idaho for about 2 weeks with temps about 105-106 with minimal humidity, and then it quickly disappeared---I miss it already. Call me crazy. We're expecting 90s again in a week but nothing like we had a few weeks ago.

As for affecting weight loss? Okay, this sounds kind of weird, but...BRING ON THE HEAT! I absolutly love the summer weather for so many reasons, but mainly because the heat turns up the heat on my metabolism. Okay, so I haven't been the "poster child" for Atkins this summer, but I've been active because of the weather. My point? Enjoy the heat, drink water, and get some vitamin D while you can!

Today is fairly mild,compared to Two weeks ago we had a few days high 90's, and of course our humidity was way up there, so the heat index was over 100. But that is what air conditioning is for! Aurora is about 45 minutes drive west of Chicago, about 40 miles from downtown Chicago.

You Texans have had it hard this summer for sure! I have a daughter that lives in Dallas and one that lives in San Antonio (first summer there, she thought she'd be dealing with hurricanes by now!)

Me, after 46 summers in Las Vegas, I now live in Rio Rico, AZ, where our hottest month of the summer is June. We're usually cooled by the monsoon rains this time of the year. The downside is I miss the monsoons, the up side is the humidity isn't as bad as it is when it rains! There REALLY is something to "dry heat!" . . . .well, if you can call 97 hot!
