Hi! In the past I have done Atkins and was quite successful, but I want to start again tomorrow. My question is will it do more harm than good to start before Thanksgiving? We go to my sisters house and she makes homemade stuffing and mashed potatoes if I were to have just a half cup could I bounce back if I restart the next day Christmas won't be a problem for dinner and I don't want to wait till after the New Year. I don't want to sabotage it so soon, but I know I'm can't pass on it, and I'm motivated to start now.

Re: Thanksgiving questions??
Atkins is a way of life... not a diet that you hop on and off of. There is always going to be a birthday, party or holiday just around the corner. Eating on plan during these events is an important part of learning how to eat to keep the weight off forever.Julie__________________F/37/5'2"__________________Start April 15, 2009

Re: Thanksgiving questions??
I started Atkins (both times...this is my second time) right before Easter. But for some reason, that was when I was motivated.
Maybe once you start Atkins, by the time Thanksgiving rolls around you will be motivated enough to forego the stuffing. Don't make up your mind now that you will have stuffing for dinner. One day at a time. Can you make a low carb alternative and bring it with you?

<<I know I'm can't pass on it,>>
Well ... you've decided, right?
Are you looking for permission to eat the stuffing and mashed potatoes?
Why not make mashed cauliflower and just say, "No, thank you" to the stuffing?
It's really quite possible to have a Thanksgiving dinner without either of those foods.J.

Re: Thanksgiving questions?? Thanks Whatsername!!
Thank you so much, Whatsername for replying with such a positive attitude!! You definitely gave me the incentive to start today and see how I feel. I probably would of just said I can't do it and not give myself the benefit of the doubt that maybe I CAN do it!!!! I'm not looking for an excuse. You gave me the motivation to start and do the best I can on Thanksgiving. Thanks again!!
