  • My nose is burning!

Note to self: never, EVER, touch a jalapeno pepper and then touch your face. I have jalapeno on my nose (and no, I wasn't picking it ) and I'm worried it's gonna be there a long time. Tried washing it, and it's still burning like an s.o.b.

I know that if you eat it, drinking milk helps.

Maybe putting some heavy cream on it?

Watch your "other" mucous membranes and thin skin down below, too... Not that I know from personal experience mind you, just have always been warned. Males and females alike.

Latex/vinyl gloves are definitely your friend when it comes to handling any kind of chile. And yes, cream will work to cut the burn. Heavy is best. It won't outright eliminate the problem every time but it does help at the very least. No need to whip. Reapplication needed though. Q-tips work great to apply. Or snort cream. Whatever floats yer boat. I've also heard that lime juice in salt water will help but have never tried that one to validate.

I never thought of that, next time I am definitely going to wear gloves or something...jalapeno didn't wash off with soap and water, it just stayed there and burned my skin. Thanks!

That is because the capsicinoids are hydrophobic.
