I was cheering for Plushenko (hard) and dissapointed to see him lose but I enjoyed the show very much. It had great dancing. I really like so many of the Japanese skaters for their footwork - they are exciting to watch.

I thought Plushenko should have won the gold, too.
Evan Lysacek - he is from the next town over from me, and
I know people who went to High School with him, but even me being American, I didn't like his performance yesterday and I felt he should have got Silver.
And I think Johnny W was cheated with the low score he received, I would have liked him to be 3rd, and Yes, the Japanese skaters were so good, too bad they fell, etc, or one of them would have at least won the bronze I think.

No way. He didn't have the spark that Evan had. Ok, he had a quad but a lot of his other jumps were "wonky" ... and not smooth at all. It was very mechanical.

        One did win a bronze!

          True!

I am a big fan of Evan, I just thought his routine last night-well, the parts when he kept doing "poses" and such with his hands, arms, near his face, etc, were too quick, and only lasted like 2 beats, but if they were all connected with a theme, it would have worked, but they all seemed quite disconnected to me. Technically Evan was better, but I just enjoyed Plushenko's skate better. Guess that is why I am not a judge...LOL!

That's exactly what's going on with judging, though! It's subjective!!

              Hey J-
What did you think about Johnny W? Do you think he should have received such a low score? Or did you agree with the judges? Even the commentators were surprised.

I thought his artistry was a bit lacking -
I adore him and was cheering for him but I did not find his skate that great.

                  No.

However, I really have no idea anymore what the scoring system is.

It may be that Johnny just has too much baggage in the weird department for the judges.

I think they still give scores on past performances and what they think you should skate!

                  I did enjoy Weir's skate ...

I haven't seen much skating in the last few years so not everyone was known to me (which makes it fresh!).

Yes, I agree. Especially about the "wierd baggage" being possibly held against him.

I found this link last night--- if you click on the + sign at the end of each person's name, it shows how they are scored. Not that it makes a lot of sense to me, or unless you are familiar with the terms and elements, but it is there to see. Last night it was updating scores for skaters we did not see, and actually scores were posted for people we did not see yet, because we saw some of the skaters "on tape". I saw Abbott's score 45 minutes before they showed him skate on NBC. The last group of course, was all "live."

Oh, and I like that I was finally able to see what MUSIC is being played when they skate. It always makes me crazy when I want to know what the music is, and had no way to find out. They show the music for each skater's performance on that link!
