  • Name Your Tunes

I luv, luv, luv listening to my iPod when I work out. I was just curious if anyone has very specific songs that they like to listen to for specific workouts?

    Like walking = medium paced
    running = fast paced

What motivates you most? Dance music, metal music, pop music. country music?

I am always looking for new tunes so please post your favorites and maybe what workout you do while listening to them.

Wow, really? No one home? No one likes to workout to music? I don't think I could workout regularly without it.

If I am trying to burn up some calories on my treadmill I listen to fast paced music like Metallica. I have several playlists to enhance my mood, 70's, 80's, 90's, etc.

I have a collection of over 600 titles

They range from Classical (Vivaldi Violin, Beethoven), Latin singing such as Ricky Martin, Latin Dance such as Salsa, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Middle Eastern (Bellydance) Music, Music from France and Italy, Black Eyed Peas, Lady GAGA, Cat Stevens, Stones, Ozomatli,
      and the list goes on.
So my playlist depends on my mood,
      and I agree,
I can not work out without my NANO.

I like really trashy fast-paced tunes, for running fast.

I don't think my links would be appropriate for ADBB.

Agent Provacateur's Love Me Tender song
Benny Bennassi - Who's Your Daddy
        Brown Eyed Girls - Abracadabra
DJ Tiesto - Who Wants to be Alone
Eric Prydz - Call On Me
Fedde Le Grand - Put Your Hands Up For Detroit
Gotan Project - Santa Maria (Del Buen Ayre)
        Greenskeeper - Lotion
        Ke$ha - D.I.N.O.S.A.U.R.
        Lily Allen - Smile
Mason vs. Princess Superstar - Perfect Exceeder
        Mika - Rain
Natalie Portman's Shaved Head - Bedroom Costume
Of Montreal - For Our Elegant Caste
        Princess Superstar - Licky
        Shakira - Mon Amour
Thao with The Get Down Stay Down - Big Kid Table

Erasure or Seu Jorge for cool down. Charles Trénet for stretching. =)

I LOVE dance music to get me going.

Here's my playlist when I use my hula hoop:

          Hips Don't Lie by Shakira
          Pon de Replay by Rhianna
          I Like to Move It
          Temperature by Sean Paul
Boom Boom Pow by Black Eyed Peas
My Humps by Black Eyed Peas
          Calle Ocho by Pitbull

Often I just need to start MOVING! I also have LOTS of CDs from the 80s and disco music. Recently bought Just Dance for my Wii and that is a lot of fun too. Also love all the latin music when I Zumba.

I also listen to Enigma a lot...usually when weight lifting and sometimes for yoga/tai chi/qi gong. I guess my strength training is somewhat zen at this time.

So, for a brisk walk or jog do you find you listen to a faster paced group of music, or are your selections based Sly on your mood? I really am curious about this.

              Wish I could jog....maybe a while...haven't "jogged" since I was about 12 years old...LOL!

Some of my playlists are are "timed" and they start out with slower music and then pick up the pace, and then slow down at the end for cooling down, and for stretching.

Even if my mood changes, most of the lists are set up in the same way. For example---I know how long I can last on the elliptical, so I have the music set that way. As I increased my stamina, I added a song in the middle.

I will also often walk or elliptical to slower music if I want to actually listen to the music, rather than be motivated by the pace of the music. So it is a bit mixed up.

OMG! Hoola Hooping!!!! I haven't thought of that in ages. That would be a great exercise to whittle the middle. Thanks for that piece of inspiration!!!!!

"I Like to Move it." I have the Crazy Frog version of that one and it does make you move it, move it!!!!

Right now I'm into Aerosmith's : Crazy, Livin on the Edge, The Other Side, Hole in My Soul, Amazing and Fly Away From Here.

(I will play them over and over and then move on to someone new. They're my flavor this month anyway)

                  Maroon 5: Makes Me Wonder
                  Rihanna: Disturbia
Pink: Cuz I Can, U + UR Hand, So What
                  Curtis Mayfield: Move On Up
John Mayer: lots and lots of his
Dave Matthews: Warehouse, All Along The Watchtower, lots of his too
                  Some Nickelback
                  Some Bonnie Raitt

When I get tired of them, all new artists. I'm fickle, except for John Mayer and Dave Matthews.. they never leave!

My music is a combination of something upbeat and my mood.

Generally, its Green Day, Switchfoot, Paper Tongues and I have a lot of music from my son that is indie. He got a new MP3 player and I inherited his old one, including all his music.

Just for Mickkey.... I promised the "All Skate" playlist from my iPod.

If you weren't a child in the 70's or early 80's.... All Skate is when you went to the roller rink with your friends and they would call out different rules for different songs like "ladies choice", "couples only" and last but not least "All Skate" which meant everyone get out and skate.

                              Brick House - The Commodores
In the NAVY - The Village People
Play that Funky Music - Wild Cherry
                              Funky Town - Lipps, Inc.
                              Pop Muzik - M
Kung Fu Fighting - Carl Douglas
                              Car Wash - Rose Royce
                              Fat Bottom Girls - Queen
Signed Sealed Delivered - Stevie Wonder
Love Roller coaster - The Ohio Players
The B!tch is Back - Elton John

Those are the top picks from my "All Skate" playlist. Sometimes it is fun to take a break from my crunchy metal and drift back to the day when I had a B!tchin' pair of pink pompoms with jingle bells in them for on my skates!
