problem with following links

some of you might know i have finally attained dsl.

here's my problem.
when i recieve an email notice of a reply, i try to click the link to go to that particular post but it won't go. it did yesterday. my jack had to change some settings last night to get to some of his classwork so i am thinking it has something to do with that.

can you tell me what i need to check to fix this? and for you who are not in the know I AM SO TECH CHALLENGED SO SPEAK PLAINLY AND SLOWLY! LOL

First, delete the 'cookies' stored in your browser. Then try clicking on the link in the email again. Baby steps first since it worked before 'ol Jack got a hold of your PC.

okay, did that and tried it but didn't help.
weird....i had several notices and i got to jims journal and mine but couldn't open the link to this one. does that tell you anything?

also, the site that jack was at last night is a "secured site". he had to change something with the settings so he could view his pages. i am thinking the two things are related.

on the up side....i am so much faster! i got caught up today within 1/2 hour and it was taking 3 times that long before!

hey i tried something else so add this to the mix...
i closed all the windows
clicked on a reply and it got me to my journal
clicked on the reply for geek central and it wouldn't go
closed the one window to my journal
tried the geek central reply again and it worked that time.

like i can't open 2 or more things.

i got to this but only one window open. higgies told me to try holding down the ctrl button while clicking the link but that did nothing. i'll beat it out of jack tonight to find out what he did! lol

gotta have him work on a different email thing too . i do not like this express outlook.

i did import my address book though! ain't you just so proud of me? lol doesn't work the same but i did it.

It has to be a browser setting. I just opened this up fine using the link and I had several other ADBB browser windows open at the time.

i know it is something he did. i'll bet it's fixed tomorrow my some miraculous event. lol

i think i can get rid of outlook express and use something called netscape 6 or netscape 7. do you know anything about those? i am assuming 7 is upddate of the 6.

Perhaps he turned on pop-up blocking?

I would suggest looking at Eudora for your email. Netscape is a 'trying to be all' application (Web browsing, mail, newsgroups) and is not very good at mail. Firefox is the best Web browser going - outside of Safari for us Mac users.

he doesn't have a clue what is going on.
i figured out something i did not realize before. a new window is not coming up BUT when i click the next link it is coming up in the window that is already open. i don't know if that makes sense to you or not.

jack looked at the eudora site. it looks much like the outlook to me. set up is very similar and no way that we can see to open a new window. i am going to check out some more msn stuff tomorrow and see what else is out there. what i want is my old email set up. don't know if that can happen or not without paying msn a monthly charge. i may have to learn to live with this.
