  • Resource conflict HELP

    I am getting an error
Resource Conflict PCI in Slot 2 BUS:00, Device: OB, Function: 00
Running Win 98 on an older HP Pavilion 4530.
Is this possibley related to the RAM cuz I seem to be having a problem with that also....

      Re: Resource conflict HELP

It's more like one of your PCI cards. Are you comfortable opening it up? (You're going to have to, I think) One solution would be to unseat the cards, clean the tracks by blowing air into them, and reseat. Then boot up and reinstall the drivers for the devices running off that card. Memory issues are entirely different. Did you install any hardware or RAM recently? If so, you might have disturbed one of the cards.

I'm sure you're just looking at what I wrote and mumbling "Is he crazy?" . You could just try to re-install the drivers but you have to determine what is running off this PCI slot first. Firewire? Network Adapter?

And, don't do anything until some others chime in. I'm PC literate but a Mac fanatic!

Also, check into Device Manager (>Start >Settings >Control Panel >>System >Device Manager). Look for yellow blobs and let the wizard help you identify and resolve the conflicts.

would it maybe be the norton i upgraded?? I was having trouble with that. Working on uninstalling that now.
I moved around some RAM, I thought I had more than I actually did. Not getting the error message anymore but the computer is CRAWLING!!!!
I'll be back. I need to get that one running so the kid stays off MY computer LOL

OK, I am better. Uninstalled the Norton upgrade download and reinstalled network drivers and got more memory to boot!! woohoo! Working fine now. Except I have no virus protection, so I have to try that again. *keep your fingers crossed*!!!
